Fascination of Sarah

As a follower of the comedy, shock and awe of SP, I wondered why so many people read about her and came to this conclusion. People are fascinated by others that are different than themselves. Just think about the Charles Manson followers. They didn't even know he was retarded. They just knew he was different. Maybe this is why so many read about SP. She is truly different and not in a good sort of way. It is amazing how many lies and ill treatment of people she gets away with. It is also amazing how she mistreats her children and no one seems to care. Because she gets a lot of hits on facebook she really thinks they are her supporters and fails to realize that the majority of the people that follow her are simply doing it as I, for the laughs, shock, disgust and awe.

I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to forget/ignore her since she was Mayor of Wasilla in the 1990's. Imagine my horror this morning when I tested a little facebook app that shows you your most used words in your facebook posts - and Palin was my #6th most used word. *shudder* I usually don't do resolutions for the new year, but I resolve to not use the name Pa**n as often in the next year. I think I'll go back to using SWMNBN (She Who Must Not Be Named).

Bubbles of Earth!" "

I think her fascination lies in a) the continual circus of the absurd that is her life, and b) the fact that she is so empty a vessel that she has ceased to be a person and is totally a symbol -- for both the left and the right. And she is *so* empty a vessel that she's not a symbol of any *specific* thing -- she's a symbol of *whatever the individual brings to the plate*. Feeling victimized? She's a symbol of victimization. Feel like people that oppose health care reform are evil boobs? She's a symbol of evil boobs everywhere. Etc and so forth.

I thought it was more like how people slow down to gawk at a car accident. It is rivetting from the horror of it, and that gratitude that it isn't you. SP is like that for me - it is like watching the old film footage of nuclear bomb tests. You know what is coming, yet can't tear your eyes away.

I think SP and Co. really stepped into it when they block Gryphen (Immoral Minority Blogger) from the book signing. I have been reading his blog since the incident and I am realizing that Gryphen is really angry about being banned and then escorted away from the event. Things are really heating at his blog and he is leading the pack. I am more comfortable with AkM's style. I have concluded that AKM has never made SP actions personal, I'm not sure if I would have stuck around this long if the Mudflatters' tone was similar to IM. I know Sarah has major issues, I'm just not okay when folks focus on her children. Some of the other blog sites pick those kids apart. I'm glad that doesn't happen on this blog. I am not sympathetic towards SP, I can tell that she has really offended a lot of people and folks are ready for the payback. I just need to distance myself from it.

The interest in her is because she was forced down our throats by the Republicantvoteforanything Party. Sprinkle that with a bizzare x 10 baby situation, a woman who has a child having a child, a snowmobile champ (most of us were unaware or cared much such things existed), a son in the Army, with video's and pictures of the primary focus almost nekkid from pageant years (Who now you can't even tell if she has breasts) and a cottage industry of proponents and opponents (The sane ones of the bunch) makes her already the President of the United States of Jerry Springer Land.
I would accept hearing her in a church talking about spiritual things. I have zero interest in her affecting our nations future. I think she is one of the largest leaders of the coming civil war the republicantvoteforanything party is trying to instigate.

Here is a sampling:
Quote
And while there was no violence during the event, one protestor wearing a Tea Party shirt said his loaded gun was a “very open threat” to anyone who might “try to take over the country completely as a socialist communist [state].” The New Mexico Independent attended the protest and put together a report on the event...
Apart from the obvious danger from introducing fire arms to a crowded, emotionally-charged environment, as Walt Rubel, the editor of the Las Cruces Sun-Times wrote in today’s paper, displaying guns at a rally is counter-productive to the protestors’ goals. “Nothing will ‘put a positive light on gun ownership’ quite like inviting every yahoo with a weapon in southern New Mexico to gather at the busiest intersection in Alamogordo and wave their firearms at the passing traffic,” he wrote."

Lani, Maybe she has been quiet because the shock of winning so many derogatory and negative awards finally set in. I don't think anyone in the history of American politics has been insulted and put down by the MSM as this. I haven't read of one award that puts her in a positive light. Can you imagine what will happen if she does decide to run for a national political office? She will get the attention but not the attention she wants.

But do you think it really does sink in with her? The thing I find so utterly repulsive about Palin is the way she glories in her ignorance. "I didn't blink" says it all. It never crossed what passes for her mind that she was hopelessly out of her depth. She despises all things she can never be and just juggernauts over anything or anyone in her way. AKM's essay in Going Rouge I think is one of the best in the collection. Reading her posts I'm always amazed at her ability to keep her focus and perspective unwarped by Palin's corrosive behavior.

Well, she did speak on some Faux Noise show recently - yesterday, I think - and continued her death panel lie, so she has reappeared - sort of. But it doesn't seem to garner the interest it once would have.
I'm wondering if she felt the backlash from the harass the judges event. Burke has been quiet for about 24 hours, Beehive deleted her twitters. Someone spoke with them. Perhaps Van Fsomething got a call as well. I think even he would understand that harassing judges is not a good idea. However, the Facebook event was still up an hour ago. LOL, about 5 times as many people signed up to NOT attend as to attend.
Anyone here on $P's FB? I'm wondering if it still has the info and link to the harassment event.

She is just a bad reality (?) show with no set schedule, complete with reruns of previous themes. Can't wait until she is off the air.
