Democracy for America sent Mudpup Jr. to Eugene to train grassroots workers for somebody....  It was all rather sudden.... Anyway, he is there and would love to meet up with mudpups.  PM me for contact info.  I think the campaign he is working on is for Pat Riggs-Henson, running for Lane County Comissioner.  I say that b/c I see his photo here:  http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=155556261142495

(Sister Artemis, please don't tattoo him.....)

Lani, I can't promise I won't tattoo him (assuming he's old enough to legally get one), but I would certainly counsel him to consider his family and their reactions if he wanted one.  I'm not the type who thinks EVERYone should be tattooed.  I've been known to talk many a potential customer OUT of getting a tattoo, because they were being pressured, or really hadn't thought things through enough.  No news to you or most thinking folk, I imagine, but tattoos are permanent - IMHO not enough people think about what they'll be up to a decade or three in the future.  I'm all for sensible decisions, and discretion.

That said, PLEASE let him know I'd love to meet him.  I'll PM you some contact info.

Here's the info on his candidate:  http://www.democracyforamerica.com/activities/407-volunteer-with-pat-riggs-henson

Here's an udate about what he is doing from an email newsletter I received:
Quote
It's Saturday night, 9 p.m., in Pat's "war room" at the IWA Hall in Springfield. After another solid day of nonstop door knocking, Pat is preparing for tomorrow's Double Down Door Knock (12 p.m. - 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.  at the IWA Hall) while Ian wraps up vol calls, Kevin finishes cutting tomorrow's turf and Laura enters data to a steady R2-D2 sounding beep-beep.

And from Mudpup Jr's email to me:
Quote
Please get this out to your friends in Oregon.  This campaign is being run by former OFA people who have made this campaign in the Lane County area more coordinated, with better field organizing, and superior voter outreach than Obama had.  This is people-powered-politics in action.  Mudpups should be psyched!

... On Halloween we are doing Trick or Get Out The Vote (TOGOTV) in costume (or not if preferred) to collect the ballots of people who have not turned them in yet at 12pm and 4pm.  It is going to be great fun.  As Lane County is arguably the most vital area for Kitzhaber (the Dem Gov candidate) and DeFazio (the Dems local Rep candidate).  This means that working to GOTV Democrats 2 days before the election will be extremely important.

I remember that Neil Abercrombie lost by 7 votes on Kauai when I worked on his campaign - I am not going to let that happen here in Oregon.

Apparently, the local office number is 541-515-3819.

Want to change the world?  Call 808-652-3380.  Mudpup central in Eugene.  He will try to answer all calls and to return messages within 12 hours.  If you have a restricted number, he will not be able to return your call.  He needs more people to TOGOTV (Trick or Get Out The Vote).

Hey!  Listen up Mudpups!  Jr. has travelled on his own ticket to Eugene to make things happen.  He's just a democrat from elsewhere who is trying to turn things around in your neck of the woods.  And he needs your help.   So call him now at 808-xxx-xxxx.  Yep, that's a Hawaii number, but he is Eugene, working for change.  So call him.  He needs your support.  Get out the vote!

[modified to remove number now that election is over - Lani]

Well, the strategy worked, although not for the county commissioner.  She lost, but everyone upticket won.  So mudpup is 3 for 4, which is pretty d*mn good for this election.  Thanks, Eugene, for keeping it blue - except for your commissioner....

Apparently, during Halloween weekend, Mudpup Jr went door to door with Rep. Peter DeFazio.  MJ was in costume as a teabag and Rep. DeFazio was a mad scientist.  They were joined by a not-a-witch with a name tag that stated "YOU".

Lani, I was bummed it did't work out for me to contact your son.  Between work, visiting relatives and going to our other shop for 3 days, it didn't seem like I had many free moments.  Most of them were late eve/early morning times.  Grrrrrr!  would have loved to meet that kid - seems like he has a world of good energy.

Nice to hear about deFazio trick r treating with Mudpup Jr.  Mad scientist.... that isn't real hard to envision!  I sure like my Rep.

You've got the number!  He's there for a few more days to close up the office.

I'd like to think that Mudpup Jr. made a crucial difference in the Governor's race in Oregon. It was that close!

Well, speaking as a local, I definitely appreciated all efforts made Grin, and I'm VERY relieved not to have that OTHER guy as governor.  What a DUD, I might add.  Angry

Sorry that the candidate which mudpup jr. was working so hard for didn't make it, but we try as hard as we can, and then move forward.   No pain, no gain, even if it takes a while.

I'm hoping Kitzhaber's success will translate into innovative health care in Oregon.  We'll see what comes, but it's at least a distinct - and important - possibility.

Very glad to have had Mudpup jr. helping Oregon candidates - especially deFazio, my favorite in the Oregon delegation, who was running against a really scary character. Robinson has been active in the Rebublican climate change disinformation campaign among other dirty tricks. And yeah for Kitzhaber's win too! Thanks Mudpup Jr. !
