and another ridiculous one:
http://www.crivellawest.net/pdf/645.pdf
Seems to be a back and forth twixt the so-hurt Gov and a radio show rep (host? not sure)
Quote
I was not provided all this infomation/communications Glen. Thanks for bringing it to my attention- but this is all the more reason a more responsible venue should have been found for you to air your grievences instead of playing into our known critic's hands. Fagan seemed to be using you, big time.
All I could think of when listening to you was: "With friends like this, who needs enemies".
Oh, my.
And this as a clincher at the end:
Quote
Please don't pass these thoughts on to Fagan - he hates me and my administration
enough as it is.
interesting...

So now that they have all these emails about kids trips I wonder if they will revisit the amount she needs to pay back for the kids travelk expenses?

I can't decide if I'm appalled or amused or just plain sickened... this lot makes the cast of "The Richs" look like rank amateurs.
They could take up with irish travellers and not need one moment of training.
They could operate carnival games and make a mint.
Willow hosting a luncheon? How old
was
she at the time? Where was this luncheon held, a daycare? Who in their right mind is going to buy that?
I don't know much about the law as it would apply to all of this stuff but I am willing to bet that there is likely to be a fair amount of illegal diddlings. These people are fools, or worse.

Small-town grifters should stick to small towns. They aren't equipped in the long run to handle the big time. Hopefully, this will be her (their) downfall.

You're right, they should. (and I apologize to carnies all over the world.)

from this link:
http://www.crivellawest.net/pdf/645.pdf
this was part of a questionnaire that SP filled out before taking office (I think?) and the homeschooling parents are getting antsy about apparent inaction. From the questionnaire:
Quote
When Governor Palin ran for office, she, personally responded to the AHEA
questionnaire promising statewide homeschoolers, many of whom campaigned for
her, some very specific things. Please see the list below.
among the things on the "list below" were these two:
Quote
2. Brick and mortar schools in Alaska currently spend an average of $1,500 per
pupil on extra-curricular activities, yet the statewide correspondence programs
are limited to spending approximately $800 per pupil for fine arts and P.E.
2. Would you support removing the regulations which cause this inequality among
Alaskan students?
...
4. The statewide programs receive only 80% of the per pupil foundation formula
amount, and they receive no support from local property taxes.
4. Would you work with our members to remove the 20% funding penalty imposed on
homeschool students in statewide programs?
Candidate Sarah Palin - Yes
and one more:
Quote
6. Do you support keeping the current "hands off" approach to independent
homeschooling?
Candidate Sarah Palin - Yes
I thought part of the thing with the homeschooling bunch (or a lot of 'em) was that the state stay the heck out of their child's education. But apparently they want the state to pay for it anyway. Go figure. Either the state is part of the deal or it isn't... take yer pick, people!
p.s.
I imagine that part of that disparity is the simple fact that brick-and-mortar ain't cheap. The overhead for maintaining school buildings - is that included in the "cost per student"? Seems that it would, but don't know.

My oldest daughter is a teabagging homeschooler. She feels totally entitled to the state paying for her choice of homeschooling. And I agree, the overhead for school buildings and teachers is probably included in the cost per student.

I would guess that that overhead is a fairly substantial amount, too.
I think there are a lot of families who home-school for lots of valid reasons, but I think it has also been used by the fundamentalists to more or less brainwash their children, to keep them from being exposed to any ideas that they don't approve of. Over time, this can't be good for the country.

Yes, that photo is worth a look!
Anyway, back to homeschooling. Yes, the cost per student in the bricks and motar school covers everything - transportation, utilities, maintenance, teachers, copiers, computers, teacher benefits, all administrative staff -
everything
. The homeschooler doesn't generate those costs, obviously.
Homeschool curriculum must meet state standards. So I think another question is whether to fund the education of a homeschooler who is receiving a religious education? Seems to me the answer is no.
Some religious education programs avoid the conflict by using approved texts, but testing on religious education. For example, in world history, my son was required to plot Abraham's life events against events in ancient Egypt.
There was another weird question like that, but I have blanked it from my mind. In science, of course, he was tested on his ability to dispute evolution, using the made up science of creationism. Well, that program didn't last long for us, of course, but it did develop son's debating ability.

Why are they interested in keeping the "Foster fundraising stuff" out of The Ear? And who's Tuckerman?

And who's Tuckerman?
and Linda Menard whom he threatened?
Quote
Update - Wednesday afternoon: [4/9/08] Three reliable sources state that Tuckerman Babcock was Linda Menard's rude, perhaps threatening caller last Sunday. They all request anonymity. I haven't heard back from Mr. Babcock, having left a detailed message asking for his story on this. Still waiting...

I believe Tuckerman Babcock was the Assistant General Manager of the Matanuska Electrical Association, but there has been so much information to digest since we all met because of Palin, I'm pretty overloaded right now.

This email from the "withheld" log looks interesting . . .
Quote
06/18/07 | M. Stapleton | Governor Palin, M. Tibbles, T. Palin, S. Leighow, M. Stapleton | Briefing papers on Yukon Territory | withheld: executive/deliberative process privilege
See page 15 of this PDF:
http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Sections/NEWS/palin_withheld_documents.pdf
Yukon Territory is in CANADA. What needs to be hidden? Was the crazy lady planning to invade Canada?

Quote
Tawdy-boy &S'error have lots to answer for:
1. Receiving confidential information re: topics the governor would normally not get, but which would be received by other staffers. Think background search info on a private citizen/CEO.
2. Using state funds for state property being bought and paid even though he was not a contractor entitled to state equipment in order for communications to be appropriately handled or an employee. Think Blackberry. Even if Tawdy was an 'unpaid' advisor, they are never entitled to the use of any state property.Period.
3. Violating Tawdy's employer's confidentiality by sending clearly identified confidential company information first to himself, then on to others. BP is going to have a field day with Tawdy over this, and nothing he can do/say will help him. Every Fortune 500 company, heck most companies, require you to sign a document stating you understand that certain information is not to be disseminated to others. BP can also go after anyone receiving said confidential information.
4. Even if Celtic Diva gets (or already got) a refund for the outrageous fee she paid for far fewer e-mails, AK has to make it right to every other organization or individual who previously requested state information under FOI. Responsible parties for fulfilling FOI's need to get there act together.
5.
Nepotism
rears its ugly head, given the extensive use of Tawdy in performing the governor's duties. Executive branches of government tend to strictly narrow who may be involved in running the government.
6. No matter that someone may be a spouse,
there is still a CONFIDENTIALITY agreement that S'error herself had to sign indicating she understood that certain information/documents were not to be discussed outside of those with appropriate clearance and who have signed their own agreements.
. S'error absolutely did violate this. Find the S'error signed document about this, and she falls down even further below than h-e-double hockey sticks.
