Open Thread – Blind Allegiance Eve!

Get ready! Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin is about to hit the shelves tomorrow. Even though you can’t get your hands on it yet, the books have made their way into the secretive back rooms of bookstores across the land. For the next 24 hours, the Swiss Guard, jacked up on triple lattes, will be standing vigilant, with saucer eyes and hair trigger reflexes, ready to spring into action to prevent any unlawful purchasing or peeking.

OK, not really. But you still can’t get a copy until tomorrow because of the “strict on sale date” of May 24. I am waiting too, and will go purchase a copy in Anchorage in the morning.

Thanks to Mudflatter ‘Wormtongue’ who passed on these photos from an undisclosed bookstore in an undisclosed location.

Pawlenty was in Des Moines, Iowa today and announced his run for President. While looking for information about him, I found an interesting article about his former aide. Guess he doesn’t have good judgement as to who he hires.

  5. leenie17 says:

    Congratulations, AKM! You’re a star!!!

(Then again, you’ve been a star to us for a long time! 🙂 )

  6. seattlefan says:

I am glad to see your book is getting a lot of media buzz. Mine will be downloaded on my IPad at midnight tonight and I am looking forward to reading it. I wish all the authors of all the books well and hope all of you can finally get our media and our “independent” voters to see her for what she is. Break a leg on the sales, “also, too”. 🙂

(is it true Mr. Bailey is appearing on The View tomorrow? If so, that will generate huge buzz and publicity.)

  7. Millie says:

I ordered two of the books today – one for my daughter who lives in Texas and, of course, the other for me. Can hardly wait to have it in my hands! Good luck on the publication tomorrow. Hope it goes to #1!

A bus station is where the bus stops. A train station is where the train stops. On my desk is a work station. Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer-gut,and still think they are sexy.Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car. I asked god for a bike, but I know he doesn’t work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness. I’m done being goofy for today,I hope.

  10. Wormtongue says:

    No problem! 😉

    Can’t wait to read it!

EMC would have been so proud. *sad sigh*

  11. Motorhead says:

So, AKM, when do you and Frank head out for the nationwide Book Tour?

  12. LisaB says:

I tell ya, I have felt like a kid on a long car ride waiting for this book: Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

Finally, there is a “there” there. 😀 I have schadenfreude chilling as I type. Tomorrow will be a good day.

  13. Chiba says:

LOL That lyin’ Alaska weasel will get hers soon No wonder she bought a compound in AZ Better to hide out with creatures you know: poisonous SNAKES

    • bubbles says:

What!!! oh no WOW. you got to download Kindle for PC pre-order and you will be reading this at 12:01 est. on your laptop or desktop.

      • johnny says:

Dunn’s book was on my kindle just a few minutes after midnight the day it came out. EST

  16. Lilybart says:

I am very encouraged by the buzz around this book so far.

Thanks for having a conscience, Frank!

  17. Jlynn says:

I ordered mine through my nook and I’m prepared to call them and get rather nasty if they play the whole it will be available “sometime during the day of release” card like they did the last time I pre-ordered. Sometime tends to be like 9 pm (okay so it was only 9 am but I swear it felt like 9 pm).

Clicking on the book to download every 30 seconds hoping that the message that it is still not available will go away is NOT how I want to spend my morning… instead I want to be devouring the book.

  18. Zyxomma says:

Busy, busy, busy w/personal matters today (bf in hospital; I’m going up to Yonkers to assist him); please keep us in your hearts until the crisis is over.

    • jimzmum says:

I am sorry! Thoughts and prayers.

“please keep us in your hearts until the crisis is over”

Congrats, AKM! Waiting for this “baby” to be delivered must have been hard. I hope it’s a successful birth!

  20. Irishgirl says:

The Obamas are in Moneygall in County Offaly. Michelle looks gorgeous.

    • Mag the Mick says:

I am enjoying watching the coverage. His remark about “I’m Barack Obama of the Moneygall Obamas. We come in search of the missing apostrophe we lost over the years,” just made me laugh. I hope he has a great visit and that you and your family get to hear him speak.

      • Irishgirl says:

He was great. I didn’t go to see him. I had a school run and I thought I could go after that but I heard on the radio that College Green was packed. Apparently 60,000 people turned up so we all watched it on TV instead. He had to leave Ireland earlier than planned as volcanic ash from Iceland is making another unwelcome appearance.

        • leenie17 says:

I just watched the speech and it warmed my heart to see how the people of Dublin enthusiastically embraced him. I’ve been to Ireland six times and always felt like I was being welcomed back to my second home, but it was wonderful to see one more example of how President Obama has done so much to regain the respect of the world for our country.

I thought it was very touching to see how the President kept rubbing Michelle’s arm while the PM was speaking. I’m not even sure he realized he was doing it. What a loving couple they are!

I also thought of several friends of mine who are members of the Traffic Unit of the Garda in Dublin. I bet they have a LOT more gray hair than they did a couple of weeks ago!

  21. Lilybart says:

Jeanne, I hope Frank has some media training and that he has his stories and talking points lined up because he is going to be GRILLED like no one before. And you know the ugliness that is coming, but the media will feel they MUST try to discredit him to seem “fair” to the poor fragile hockey mom with the special needs child.

  22. DF says:

I wonder if these books will line the front door at Costco the way Palin’s last book did! I was absolutely disgusted to see how it was rammed down the throats of those who passed over the threshold.

    TOMORRRRRROWWWWWW!

  23. mike from iowa says:

Joplin Missouri got hammered by a tornado. At least 89 dead. More details later.

    • jimzmum says:

We lived in Pittsburg, KS for five years. Shopped in Joplin weekly. We still have friends there. So very sad.

    • Alaska Pi says:

Guy I work with has a sister there- she’s ok.
He got word via text while we were talking after work yesterday.
      It sounds pretty grim .

  24. Irishgirl says:

“Newser) – Sarah Palin couldn’t wait to ditch her job as Alaska governor for a more lucrative future, failed to make commitments, and broke campaign laws. That’s a taste of the revelations in a new book penned by former Palin insider Frank Bailey. Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin: A Memoir of Our Tumultuous Years will finally be available to the public tomorrow. The book, based on tens of thousands of emails Bailey amassed during his time with Palin, was leaked earlier this year by the Anchorage Daily News. Bailey tells AP in a new interview that he could never forgive himself if he stayed silent and Palin made it to the White House.”

  25. jimzmum says:

Congratulations! Look at that book you helped make. How cool! I am so happy for you, and can’t wait to read it.

  26. Irishgirl says:

Oh, there is more!!! The hype surrounding the book is just gearing up. Frank Bailey is interviewed in the link below.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vru7xhU4w2k

  27. Irishgirl says:

New book portrays Palin as cold, calculating opportunist

“A blunt, brutal tell-all book by a member of Sarah Palin’s inner circle confirms what many have long suspected about the former Alaska Governor and GOP pop-culture icon.

She’s in it for the money.” 😉

I can’t wait! I’ve been reading Dunn’s book until this one comes. I know it will be a good read.

  29. historygoddess says:

My Kindle will be all warmed up and purring away tonight. I expect Whispernet to have my little treasure all downloaded by 12:01! Happy reading, all!

  30. Irishgirl says:

I just checked my order and it hasn’t been shipped yet.

I left this link on the last open thread. President Obama has arrived in Ireland and this is the Irish coverage of the visit.
