Mudflix – 4 Reasons

Why occupy Wall Street?

This one is a four minute, thirty second must-see that gives your four reasons. There is some interesting history from Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Alan Grayson and others that illustrates what’s gone so terribly wrong, and how we need to right the course. Extremely well done.

Yeah, there is a brief membership process – that’s so we can get rid of the spammers. Pls drop by, check it out, and post info about what’s happening with Occupying in your neighborhood!

The lowly, the technologically challenged, who have no idea what is in the video, spkeak. So I’ll speculate on the four reasons.

The first reason is that deposit banks, and investment banks, and insurance companies, and credit rating agencies and so on should not be owned by a single entity.

The second is that regulators may not be employed by any interest group after the fact of their tenure, nor my they be selected from any group with a vested interest in a particular industry or business to begin with.

The third is that the duty of the DOJ is to pursue and prosecute cases of criminal wrongdoing no matter who the perpetrators are.

The fourth is that “the appearance of conflict of interest” on the part of a supreme court justice should be a trigger for automatic investigation and impeachment proceedings.

The fifth is that every financial institution that utilized the MERS to profit from rampant mortgage inflation and property value inflation should be forced to provide documentary evidence of ownership of such financial instruments dully certified by local authorities.

The sixth is that rampant and reckless speculation in commodity markets by non-participating interests should be severely curtailed The pre-existing system seemed to work pretty well, if you bought a huge position in oil futures, you had to take delivery. I wonder what the headquaters of Goldman Sachs would like like with 800 million barrells of oil stashed here and there.

The seventh is the appraisal fraud that pumped the market for housing and everything else, just
like there was rating fraud, (see next).

The eighth was the rating fraud – standard and poors giving triple A ratings to bundled mortgage securities that they actually knew were sub-prime.

Ninth is the continuing foreclosure fraud that dispossesses people from their homes and then sells them off at auction without having any credible evidence that they actually own the note.

The tenth would be the corruption of the judiciary personnel who allow financial entities to railroad through these fraudulent claims. Maybe they are getting a piece of the action as well?

The eleventh would be the speculation that was enabled by the creation of unregulated commodities markets in which any kind of entity could trade.

The twelth is a piece of ancient history, the abolishon of the equal time rule. What people do not seem to realize is that it is not a question of buying advertising on the major media channels that decides elections. It is the fact that all the major media channels are corporate creatures and their sole motive for existence is profit. Hence nothing they do is even vaguely objective or honest. They are selling their own agenda

Thirteenth is the embedded corrupt cadre of right wing nut jobs who were emplaced in government in the previous administration and then ensconsed as life long civil servants who cannot be summarily dismissed.

Fourteenth is the coordinated and organized program to denigrate health care reform and increase the profits of the insurance companies. Think about it for a minute. Someone profits from the suffering of others? Doesn’t this seem just a little bit odd?

Fifteenth, war. War is just like keeping warm by burning money.

Sixteenth, I plan to stop here just because it is a nice round 4 times the original obscure list,
but not in any sense a complete picture. There are more angles that pertain. But let us say
the last one is the whole idea of what we think we know. It relates to how we inform ourselves.
Objectively, we owe our present circumstances to the fact that we are not all that ready to actually participate and take on the responsibility of knowing something about the circumstances in which we find ourselves. And acting upon that knowledge in a responsible way.

While one part of me resists blaming the victims, there’s a huge amount of truth in what you say. We’d all just love to live our lives in blissful ignorant peace, but that’s pretty much like living in prehistory and wanting to live a life free of lions, tigers, bears, and poisonous snakes, yes? Ain’t gonna happen. Only in our times, the predators are other human beings. And our established sources of information, the media, are about at accurate in the info they deliver as oracles paid to interpret the entrails according to the emperor’s wishes.

I guess I’m just a little dense here. Title is “Mudflix – 4 Reasons”. Can you list them for me – the 4 reasons? those 4 things that Elizabeth Warren lists? Are those what you are referring to?
I’ll watch it again and again until I get it straight.

  5. Kath the Scrappy says:

Yes, that was a most excellent YT. Best I’ve seen so I’ve posted it elsewhere. Thx

Elizabeth Warren ROCKS! She has more sense in her little finger than all the RWNJ’s in politics
combined. Love this video and will distribute to my email list.

“Life gets awfully lonely for those at the top. What can we do to let them know someone’s thinking of them? Maybe they need some new friends! We’ve thought of two ways we can help them with that.”

    “Option 1: Pen Pals”
“Make your voice heard by the Wall Street elites who wrecked the economy and made the rest of us pay. Click on someone below and tell them a story that you think they should listen to… Share your special story with someone who ought to know.”

    “Option 2: Best Friends Forever”
“If you’re feeling even more generous, why not reach out in a more creative way? Click on a banker below, then read the instructions and examples to get inspired. Maybe your banker needs some kind words, or maybe an intervention

I remember back in the 80’s when the U.S. taxpayers had to bail out Neil Bush’s Silverado Savings and Loan. I think he got off pretty easy, too.

    • taxpayers only lost about a billion on that fiasco and nb got a forgivable loan from that place while it was in financial straits-if I remember correctly. Having your dad as veep and later potus works wonders to keep your arrest record clean.

Here in Alaska we are taking it in the shorts from all directions: Wall Street, Big Oil, Global Climate change deniers, Cut her down and pave it overs, Flat Earthers, War Mongers, NPS haters, you name it.

Time for some levity. I agree with Zonker.

EXCELLENT!!!!!! Just shared on fb…and will share with Occupy Fredonia ,our village.

After I saw the report from CBO clearly showing the income household increase over the past thirty years….where the rich got 275% increase while middle class got 40%…I thought that should get folks out there. Yes, it will…but this video explains so much more. THANKS

OCCUPY EVERYWHERE…OCCUPY THE EARTH…OCCUPY CONGRESS…OCCUPY for our future

  11. StElias says:

Not much question that Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders were two of the primary catalysts to spark public reaction to the financial mess Wall Street has made of our economy.

Oh how the Tea Baggers and their GOP brethren would love to shift the limelight from OWS back over to the politicians. Fortunately, truth is beginning to take root. What the right has a difficult time with here is that the protesters do understand what Wall Street and more generally the nation’s economic elite have done to us. And that’s why they’re protesting.

Even in Europe: The other day on “Spiegel Online” a German, Thomas Tuma, attempted to do such in his article “Don’t Just Bash Bankers”.

    http://www.spiegel.de/international/europe/0,1518,794084,00.html#ref=nlint

My response to Thomas was “Come now, you are getting yourself tied up in knots over the old question: “Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?”

Of course, you are correct, it is politics, but did it ever occur to you that the politicians are owned and paid for by the Bankers and their moneyed ilk?

Here in the U.S. this dilemma becomes even more exacerbated by the introduction of “Citizens United” courtesy of the U.S. Supreme Court, led by Antonin Gregory Scalia and his “Gang of Four”.”

Besides companies pay their tiny OSHA fines and move on to kill again. Just look at the mining industry. OSHA under Bush was a sick joke. Under Obama it’s just show up and stall.

This prob. the wrong place but I have no time to see/read this item..certain that it is most worthy but..I am trying to beat the scheduled rains..picking the last walnuts here on farm. My concern was raised as I saw a latino crew..working on the local albertsons here..doing work up on a roof area..blowing debris off..perhaps patching..I do not know. What I did see..was men working without OSHA harnessing! I yelled up at them..said as only a mother would..”WHERE..are your harnesses?” They said we are being careful..and so..I went inside..mentioned OSHA..again..firmly but politely..and the manager told me..in about 12 min. as I finished my gro. purchases..that the person above her..HAD been called and would get right on that. How high were they working..I’d say 3 stoties in all..and I sweaR THAT ANYTHING ABOVE 10 FEET..REQUIRES HARNESSES!! aNOTHER EMPLOYER WHO WAS SAVING MONEY..TO ‘BUILD A MONitary amt. without enough concern for the men employed!! sorry about the caps..this particular keyboard sends me into a stupid ‘caps mode’..far too often.

    • I was kinda hoping you lost it for a moment. Just kidding. The problem is the employees don’t dare complain if they are undocumented and they probably get paid in cash. I don’t know the situation.but it could be the store wanted stuff done on the cheap and are aware of OSHA violations. This happened before and will happen again.
