Dr. Seuss must of turned over in his grave at the mis-use of copyright.

    • Man_from_Unk says:

I don’t think so. Cool dude that Dr. Seuss.

      Here’s to Seuss
      He was not a puss
      He did not fuss
      He did not cuss
      Here’s to Seuss

RIP and thanks for your great rhymes.

For once, my habit of procrastinating has actually paid off. I was told three weeks ago that I needed new tires when I had my car inspected. It passed, but only barely. I had some trouble last winter and again this year with slipping and sliding in the snow, so I knew it was time. However, as usual, I decided to wait until a more convenient time to get the job done, especially since we’ve had almost no snow this winter.

Two days ago, I got an email from the store with news that there was a rebate on tires, including the ones I wanted to get.

This morning we had the kind of fine snow that, at temperatures in the teens, gets really slippery on the roads that don’t get a lot of traffic. As I drove to my appointment, I slipped three times in the last block, finally sliding slightly askew into the parking lot. Yup…needed new tires!

My procrastination ended up saving me $130 on the tires and an oil change because of the rebates that were NOT in effect three weeks ago. AND, even better, I’m not slipping and sliding any more! πŸ™‚

Tomorrow, or maybe the next day, I will write about procastination.

      • leenie17 says:

And I’ll make sure to read it.

        After my nap.

        And maybe a snack.

Wonder what kind of cheese I have in the refrigerator….

And I’ll have to look out the window at the pretty snowflakes.

Doesn’t the snow make everything look so clean and sparkly?

        But I’ll definitely read it.

Write about how you are on the hook for beer as first poster and procrastinate your way out of that.

  4. Baker's Dozen says:

This was no time for play,
This was no time for fun.
This was the worst of all games
    Played by Republicans

All that deep, deep, deep snow,
All that snow had to go
    When Newtie went down
To the town for the day,
    He said, β€œsomebody,
    Somebody must clean this away
    Some student body
    No custodian, you see
So he picked out kid somebodies
    While he stalked Tiffany.

    So, there, there we were,
    We were working like that,
    When who should come up
    But the Great Demo-cat

    Oh, good, Sally said,
    Please let him come near,
    You know what he did
The last time he was here!

    He lowered our taxes
    And paid down the debt
    Gave bin Laden the axes
And taxed Mitt, you can bet!

    β€œWell, well,” the Cat said
    I can see you remember
    Just what it was like
    In ’08 September

β€œYou bet we do,” I said
    As the snow globber globploded
    “The Bushcrumber freeloaded
    The Republicans imploded”

    They Palinized cities
    They Mavericked towns

    And we looked at him
    We looked just like that.
    Hoo-donkeys, we love you
    You Great Demo-cat!

  6. OMG says:

So Sarah attacked all those politicians who came to Washington…to that “ceasepool” and turned it into a jacuzz…then after realizing that she was dissing her own, she quickly defended the class of 2010 Tea Partiers:

    http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/palin-dc-polls-treat-cess-pool-like-jacuzzi

Since her Newt is losing to Santorum, she insists that the primary process of ‘vetting’ must continue. I guess I’ll have to agree with her because the longer they battle the bloodier they will all get until no one will be left unscathed, no one’s record will be unblemished, no skeleton will be left hanging and no sane person will stomach voting for any of them. And if the GOP loses in a landslide decision in Nov., her fans can thank her once again just like they did in upstate New York, in Delaware, in Nevada and in Alaska.

    http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/palin-primary-competition-should-keep-going

    • OMG says:

Let’s help Sarah. She wants all the politicians who have been in Washington for a year or two (2010 freshmen) should all be thrown out! We should all do as we’ve been told and thrown the Tea Partiers out with (Sarah’s) jacuzzi/ceasepool water!

  7. mike from iowa says:

Gobig,my apologies. I have been in a good mood all day until I read your post and remembered this article I read earlier today, while checking up on my favorite nutjob Steve King. I sincerely hope Wasilla bad person chokes on his own bile from all the hate rethugs keep stored up inside. My apologies go out to Dr Seuss as well,I want fun and games, not avoidable tragedies.

  8. Gobig says:

There was some more brilliance from the GOP yesterday. Rep. Wes Keller (R) of Wasilla is opposed to the ban on texting while driving because it’s just a step toward the government making eating pizza while driving illegal.

The bill does nothing to address eating while driving, just texting. It wouldn’t bother me if it did.

Driving is serious business. You really shouldn’t be eating anything while steering a six thousand pound piece of metal down the road, much less something like a pizza. I suppose good old Wes has a 12 volt wok plugged in, so he can whip up a little stir fry on his way to Anchorage.

A large portion vehicle accidents stem from distracted driving. If people would put down the phones, newspapers, make-up, food, and other distracting items, there would be far fewer accidents. This would translate to savings for all through reduced insurance rates.

There have been numerous studies proving that talking on a phone, or eating, produces the same driving skills and behaviors as driving drunk. I remember the gruesome movies that were shown in high school to hammer home the consequences of irresponsible driving. Maybe it’s time to make our elected officials watch them? “Mechanized Death” is a good one.

Dear Repugnant, rethugnut, numbnuts Congressperson from Wasilla, http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2012120210001 One can only pray that this seventeen year old statistic does not belong to you or any of your constituents. Morons like you should not be allowed to have kids. Please contact her family and share your knowledge of why texting while driving is not dangerous and should not be outlawed.

    • leenie17 says:

In 2007, five girls from Fairport, NY were killed a week after their high school graduation because their car crashed head-on into a tractor trailer on a two-lane country road. Since everyone in the car was killed, we will never know for sure what happened immediately prior to the crash, but records from the driver’s cell phone showed that someone texted moments before she crossed into the other lane. An entire town was devastated by the unimaginable, and needless, loss.

We now have a law in NY state that prohibits texting while driving, thanks in part to this tragedy. Rep. Keller should ask the families of those girls if they think a ban on texting while driving is taking away someone’s rights.

A face spewing rot and more for so long.
We’re tired of your “it’s socialistic” song!

Did you ever know you’re not our hero,
and everything we would never be?
We will come together and defeat you,
’cause you are a stinker, don’t you see.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but we’ve got it all here in our PC’s.
We want you to know we know the truth, of course we know it.
You will be nothing when we’re through.

Did you ever know you’re not our hero?
You’re everything we would never be.

    The P-ers gather at CPAC
    Extolling virtues of using frac;
Climate change? They like it not-
    Evolution? Perish the thought!
    Small government they do extoll
    Except for increasing Defense role;
No birth control! Their voices thunder
But social programs they plan to plunder-
    Lobbyists are our best friends
    Super PACs will never end!

I do not like the GOP
    Not their financial policy
I do not like their social plan
    Women are less than any man;
I do not like them in my town
I do not want them around-

I do not like the GOP
I do not like them, no sirree!

I see the Republican War on Dr. Seuss will begin next.

They are on a roll after going after the Muppets and contraceptives.

      • Forty Watt says:

Oh yes, The Lorax – definitely a threat to society, for example –

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
        ― Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

Duct tape..sigh..brings back the ‘seeds of memory’..in the end rolls of marking/coding tapes used at Boeing. Auntie Ruth and Auntie Margaret..saved them for me to make pictures with..when I was ages 5,6,7 and 8. My dangerous scissors, any blank paper avail. and time..gorgeous..peaceful quiet time..off in the guest bedroom, or the barn loft..cutting, snipping ‘unsticking’ tiny tiny shreddy bits from moi fingers..to place and layer (for texture ya know)..as my world…flew toward beauty and color and freedom for many..and the comfort dust of old alphalfa..gently entered my nose..as wriggled deep into the hay bales.. seeking respite from war news. snip..place..consider. duct tape..a window..on your souls..enjoy the ball good people..enjoy..and run with joy.

      • Ah, yes, I remember when my youngest was in high school. She never went anywhere without her My Little Pony lunch box and a big roll of duct tape. I figured her back pack, with the books thrown in was almost half of her weight. No wonder she has back problems now.

I do remember, however, there were a few times I was glad she brought along her duct tape – it did come in handy once or twice. πŸ˜‰

Oh, and then there was the time she covered an old pair of jeans with duct tape and wore them to day camp. Turns out that was not very practical when it rained.
