    Yayyy, Secret Service!

Not only do they protect the First Family, but they also show compassion to a bunch of tiny little duck babies.

Watch and feel the warm fuzzies!

Mudpuppies, your help is needed. The FDA is taking comments on genetically modified organisms in our food until TUESDAY. There is NO labeling required in this country, even though a huge percentage of respondents say we want it.

Please, please, tell the FDA you want them to require labeling of EVERY foodstuff containing GMOs, no exceptions. Thank you!

Love the cartoon, don’t have any siblings and gotta get here more often. and Inhofe can see his cecum from anywhere.

I got an e-mail from my eldest Sister about Obama (from Shep Smith @ Faux Noise) being a Muslim which explains why Michelle didn’t accompany him from France to Arab countries. According to Smith’s experts he found in a Blockbuster store,Obama is perceived as a Muslim and his wife is not allowed,by Sharia law, to go with him. Smith also requested assistance from a Dr Jim Murk, who Smith claims is a Middle East expert. His first degree was for Middle Ages History and he has an anthropological degree from somewhere. I won’t provide the link, but if you google Murk you will find the non-sense. Hard to believe the superstitious still abound in the 21st Century.

BTW-groundhog Numero 3.0 bit the dust yesterday at Mikey’s Zoological Varmint Haven.

      • beaglemom says:

You need beagles to make your job easier. Ours never learned about bunny rabbits but they sure do like to go after chipmunks. Squirrels they just bark at because squirrels are magic and can climb trees, but chipmunks . . . . Fortunately they have never captured one but it’s not for want of trying.

        • mike from iowa says:

One of the neighbors has a pair of beagles that pay the Zoo Haven nocturnal visits to chase bunnies through the cattleyards. For some reason my new landlord fails to see the humor in his cattle spooking through fences and getting hurt. Beagles, or dogs of any type, are not welcome here, unless stuffed.

    • carol says:

This bit of crap has been factchecked by snopes and I think, factcheck.org. Find the links and send them back to eldest Sister. Yeah, I have one like that also.

    • COalmost Native says:

Head-banging stupid. Or he’s messing with his paying-publics’ heads. Still stupid.

Before I forget, let me wish all mudpuppies, hushpuppies, moderators, administrators, and bloggers a Happy Spring. Spring has already sprung here in Manhattan; the last day of winter (yesterday) was over 75 degrees F. Usually, a mild winter is followed by a mild summer, but this year, I have my doubts. I’d better buy that new air conditioner sooner rather than later. Health and peace.

    • slipstream says:

20 degrees F here. Please explain what “air conditioner” is.

      • leenie17 says:

I ran around all day in a hot school with very little ventilation and an ancient heating system that doesn’t understand the concept of spring weather and continues to blow out hot air when it’s 75 degrees outside. I was moving furniture, carting boxes of supplies up and down the stairs, escorting students around the building and generally stressing about the joint elementary-high school special event I organized for the first time today. When it was over, I looked like something the cat dragged in…and then dragged out again.

By the time our high school visitors left, 20 degrees would have felt heavenly!

(On a positive note, everyone seemed to enjoy the afternoon which I am selfishly attributing to the activities we planned rather than the donut holes and juice we had as a snack just before the older kids left!)

Take a look at the map, which for once features Alaska and Hawaii as states in the United States:

But, hey, let ’em eat cake.

  8. Zyxomma says:

I’d like to share an email I received today:

“All I can say is, “Wow!”

“You turned your outrage into action.

“Yesterday evening, the Justice Department announced that it will launch an investigation into the killing of Trayvon Martin. As reported by CNN, Justice Department spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa said the following in a written statement Monday:

“”The department will conduct a thorough and independent review of all of the evidence and take appropriate action at the conclusion of the investigation… The department also is providing assistance to and cooperating with the state officials in their investigation into the incident.”

“Thanks to your quick and decisive action, Trayvon Martin’s murder will finally receive the proper investigation it has long deserved. Questions will hopefully be answered. And now, with the involvement of the Justice Department, the FBI, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, we can only hope that justice for Trayvon will be served.

“Please share the petition with your friends, family, coworkers, and community. The battle to ensure justice for Trayvon Martin, his family and friends, has just begun!

    http://signon.org/sign/justice-for-trayvon-martin?source=s.em.cr&id=&r_by=219841&mailing_id=2782

“Thank you again for your support!”

My personal hope is that this investigation results in a murder indictment. I also believe it should include the police who should have arrested the shooter in the first place. Let’s hope.

    • leenie17 says:

The more details that come out about the incident, the more horrific the story becomes.

There are many people who need to be held accountable for this tragedy, from the shooter himself all the way up to the police administration who allowed (and perhaps even encouraged) a shoddy ‘investigation’.

  9. Mo says:

Climate deniers being fed by giant energy corporations who squeal like hogs about regulation, this essay also ought to be printed on paper towels and distributed everywhere:

  10. Mo says:

Ginandtacos is doing a Greatest Hits theme today, and one of the posters reminded us of this one, which ought to be required reading once a month until the 1% are taxed into trailers:

    http://www.ginandtacos.com/2010/12/06/

Also, why it’s immoral to vote Republican.

  11. akglow says:

And then there is Sen Inhofe on Rachel Maddow’s show last week, who was upset because his Granddaughter is being “brainwashed” in government run public schools about global warming. (she’s been given a science textbook / lesson that made a reference to the decades of work compiled by the 97% of scientists Inhofe rejects)
He then commented something like, “Why is it that bureaucrats can teach things in school that aren’t supported by elected politicians?” -I did a double take on that last comment of his.

    • Wasn’t that man disgraceful…..? His grandchildren will know (already know!) the truth about their nut job granddad…… Inhofe is so convinced of his beliefs, and so resistant to ANYTHING other than what his own mind PREFERS TO BELIEVE……. I think he is delusional. He is the worst kind of scary little man.!

    • Lacy Lady says:

Now we know why we are having trouble in our country.

  12. OMG says:

    That cartoon speaks volumes!

There’s an online poll receiving a bit of attention about whether people believe that Palin was qualified: http://www.mlive.com/opinion/kalamazoo/index.ssf/2012/03/online_poll_reflects_public_sk.html

I have no doubt that the Palin fan club will attempt to highjack the results but right now about 78% say that she was not qualified.

  13. Yep. I just told someone who told me climate change can’t be proven, that it is as if we are sick and something we are eating MIGHT be poisonous, but we are going to keep eating because we aren’t sure it is what is causing the sickness. Wouldn’t it be worth it just in case?

    • beaglemom says:

I’ve often thought that the climate change deniers certainly don’t ever think about their grandchildren. Even if I were really skeptical about climate change (and I’m not), I would want to take action now to guarantee my grandchildren and their children a life worth living.

  14. Lacy Lady says:

Why do I find this amusing?????

    http://www.borowitzreport.com

    • Seriously? Is that The Onion in disguise? There can’t really be people who are that stupid or that blatant about being a bigot. Please – tell me they aren’t real people that said those things. o_O

      • leenie17 says:

There is a definite similarity between the Onion and Andy Borowitz.

If you look at the side of the page, there’s a link to another article titled “Greece Offers to Repay Bailout with Giant Horse”. His humor is definitely NOT for the sarcasm impaired or RWNJs. I’m fairly confident that most of the people who voted for Santorum in the recent primaries would NOT find Borowitz at all amusing!

    • carol says:

      Because it is sarcasm? Hopefuly.

Well then, if it’s a big hoax and we create a better world, the aliens from other planets will hire us to be their consultants. Everybody wins.
