Netroots Eve!

The migration has begun. A host of progressive media types, and activists have landed in Providence, Rhode Island this year for Netroots Nation 2012. Shannyn and I literally took planes, trains and automobiles, and are here representing The Mudflats. We are usually trailed by the conservative “Right Online” conference which took to convening at the same hotel at the same time as Netroots.

Not this year. They’re in Las Vegas next week with Sarah Palin headlining, and a host of other speakers including Michelle Malkin, Jonah Goldberg, Dana Loesch, and S.E. Cupp. In addition they’ll be paying tribute to Andrew Breitbart and premiering the new movie “Hating Breitbart.” The trailer features an encounter he had last year in the hotel where I was staying, when he set up shop in the lobby and was confronted by Netroots attendees. It’s all about how progressives are meanies, and just want to divide and conquer the Tea Party.

If this sounds incredibly unpleasant to you, then Netroots may be more your style. It starts tomorrow morning bright and early, and wraps up on Sunday with a day of service.

Speakers will include Elizabeth Warren, Tammy Baldwin, Bill McKibben, NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (the man the big banks fear most), Paul Krugman, Van Jones, and Richard Trumka.

Don’t worry if you’re saying to yourself, “AAArgh! I wish I could be there!” because thanks to the magic in the series of tubes, you can be. You can follow along HERE. And if you miss that, many of the sessions and keynote speakers will be archived for viewing later.

You won’t want to miss Lizz Winstead, Shannyn Moore, and Cliff Schecter on “The Morning Dump” at 8:15am Thursday and Saturday, and 9am on Friday. They’ll be talking about stories of the day, and keeping us all laughing. Because otherwise… we wouldn’t be.

I had to kinda laugh. In the trailer Brietbart says ‘I don’t want to live in that world anymore’. My first thought was: Well Dude, I guess you got your wish! He was such a destructive force, I don’t mourn his departure.

I hope you and Shannyn have a great time. Sounds like a fantastic bunch of people to meet and greet. Have fun!

Steve at What do I Know had questions of himself over it. I have questions of the media world over it.

Waiting to hear all you learn and do… have fun!

While you all are enjoying Netroots, I will be traveling down to Athens Ohio. The habitat for humanity restore is in need of volunteers for the student move out at Ohio University. Students will be dropping off unwanted items at 5 different drop off points. My friends and I will be managing the drop offs.

Great timing, AKM. I could use some inspiration right about now. Elizabeth Warren and Richard Trumka?!! With Brian and Shannyn and a sea of blue. Sweet. Occupy Netroots, eh?

My summer vacation has just begun ( I “slept in” until almost 7 this morning), so after I shake off this school year, it’s time to regroup for the fall.
