Election Recount Worksession With Assembly — Join Us!

Unanswered Questions

The April 3rd Anchorage Municipal Election Recount Group will be meeting with the Anchorage Assembly in a Worksession this Friday to share our findings and recommendations with them.  Per the website:
*****************************************

Worksession – Election Recount Issues

From 06/15/12 1:00 PM To 06/15/12 2:00 PM
City Hall
632 W 6th Ave
Anchorage Alaska
Conference Room 830

*****************************************
This is a public meeting, as are all Assembly Meetings and Worksessions.

WE HIGHLY ENCOURAGE ALL WHO ARE INTERESTED IN THE FUTURE OF ELECTIONS IN ANCHORAGE TO SHOW UP IF YOU CAN!

Our Recount Group now includes the 10 original signers plus some very dedicated citizens. They donated hours of their time as Hand Count observers and will also be joining us to report on what they’ve learned. There are still many unanswered questions about this election.  Public participation is essential to increasing the transparency and integrity of the municipal election process.

Again, the Worksession is Friday, June 15, 2012, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. It will be held at the Anchorage City Hall Mayor’s Conference Room, Rm 830.

I look forward to your report, from a tiny island off the other coast of the continent.

As such an extreme outsider as an expat from Brasil commenting there might still be some relevance to what I have to say.

I have been reading a bit of Bradblog recently and you should all take a look at what is there, elections are being made into Fox News theater.

The crux of the fraud here is machine counted voting with no audits of any kind.

The same applies to the election in Wisconsin, votes were counted by machine but no independent audit of any kind was applied to confirm that those vote counts were in any way accurate.

How would you react if you went to a dinner out and got a bill for $500 for two people that was unitemized?

I am not happy to say so but the reaction to this election theater has been tepid at best. One wonders, how deep does the corruption go?

    • John says:

They did recount 15 of the precincts here. Found some errors. Maybe not enough to show anything more than gross incompetence. The meeting with the assembly should be interesting.

    • Bill Phillips says:

Heck…even the little city in Colorado that I am from is fraught with voting problems. There are 2 Republicans and 2 Democrats to oversee the recount. It’s called “canvasing”. At least we have some checks and balances. Looks like you guys don’t have any.

  3. lacy lady says:

Is this another “hanging chad” thingy? I will never forget the Florida re-count that gave Bushy the election.

    • Krubozumo Nyankoye says:

Actually lacy the recount did not give the election to Bush, the recount went to Gore but it was only done after the SCOTUS appointed Bush by declaring that under the equal protection clause, recounting only certain voting districts was unconstitutional. They deliberately stopped there because that handed the election to their boy, Bush. What they should have done if their reasoning was correct, which can be argued, was require a recount of all votes in the state. One could argue that Gore’s challenge was both half-hearted and squemish, as if they were not prepared to wade into the steaming sewage that is the GOP mindset. Which is the whole point really. The extremist right wingers have found that they can intimidate more moderate people by being as arrogant as possible. Sarah Palin is the poster child of this attitude.

      • mike from iowa says:

and to add insult to onjury the scumus twisted the equal protection clause to suit this one instance and then declared it was not to be used as precedence for future cases. five rwnj activist jokes need to be impeached and burned at the stake.

  4. John says:

The I Voted stickers should come with a disclaimer that says “just because you voted doesn’t mean your vote was counted.”

  5. Very sorry I can’t make it. I’m so thankful for what you have all done to hold their feet to the fire to answer the hard questions of what went wrong, why and what can be done to ensure it won’t happen again.

  6. Martha Unalaska Yard Sign says:

Hats of to you, Linda! What can be so hard about performing a process well that has been done since Anchorage was a city? Yeah, I know.

  7. Writing from Alaska says:

    Can’t wait. 🙂
