GOP Deathwatch with Joe the Reaper.

In further evidence of how close the ravaged body of the GOP is to taking in its last rattling death gasp….the party is no longer good enough even for (wait for it) Joe the Plumber.  That’s right, Joe (not his name) the Plumber (not licensed) is now also, no longer a Republican.  Joe feels that the Republican party is spending too much money.  We may wish to ask ourselves where Joe the Plumber has for the past eight years?

Remember when Joe told a room full of devoted Republicans “All this love and everything in the room – I’m horny.”  Well, alas, the love is gone.   And the Republican party has lost another one.  They are now without the second most embarrassing person John McCain ever associated with.

So if he’s not a Joe and not a plumber and not a Republican, what exactly IS he?  Will he become Ron Paul’s sidekick?  Cynthia McKinney’s l’il green buddy?  Or will he go rogue and start Joe the Party?  We wait with bated breath.  And we all have mixed emotions about Arlen Specter, but please oh please don’t let him become a Democrat.

TalkingPointsMemo has a Joe The Plumber retrospective in pictures. Definitely worth taking in, although I noticed they passed up on Joe The Horny Guy:

Thanks for the memories for sure, Joe. How ’bout taking your girlfriend with ya’?

I wonder who that leach will attach himself to now? I really don’t have a clue, but he needs to fade away and get a job like the rest of us. He’s a bloodsucker, and an idiot.

I wonder if he’ll move to Alaska and attach himself to Palin?

  9. Ripley in CT says:

oh gawd… I hope he doesn’t go to Alaska. You poor people have had enough of those with fewer brain cells than a Hydra. However, it wouldn’t surprise me. The AIP probably has him on speed dial.

I think my favorite part of notjoenotplumber’s brief career in the spotlight was when he was a foreign correspondent for Pajamas Media in Israel. He managed to be dumb, dumber, and dumbest all at the same time, with dummy sprinkles on top.

  22. womanwithsardinecan says:

Why would anybody be “worried” about notjoenotplumber? lol. We’re just tired of the dumb things that come out of his mouth. KInda like we’re tired of the dumb things that come out of Palin’s mouth. She may be the gift that keeps on giving, but at some point it becomes more like that old story, “A Week of Sundays.”
As little sis says, if she (and that dumb notplumber guy) would just slither back home permanently, then we could all happily go back to our regularly scheduled lives.

  23. BahstinBoyo aka Wrangler Tractor Palin says:

There’s a whole sidebar just waiting to be explored! JTP’s flame was extinguished once it was revealed that he was a fraud in every aspect of his life. Had the MSM just ignored him, he may have faded away long ago. It was because of that initial fifteen minutes of fame given him by the MSM that the McCain camp picked him up and ran with him, propagating the myth and the illusion of his own importance. Much like a Broadway show, however, his one act play has come to its inevitable demise.

Inasmuch as the correct spelling and use of words and terms are concerned, I keep MSN’s ‘The Free Dictionary’ open for reference. Kind of a Readers Digest ‘Improve Your Vocabulary’ tool. Makes me fell better about myself! Even If I still stumble on okayshun!

Having lived in the deep south a number of years, I feel I MUST quickly correct ‘Lyn’ on the proper use of that uniquely southern expression… y’all. Singular… y’all. Plural… all y’all. Plural possive… all y’alls.

Thanks, Paula. I don’t think anybody outside of the GOP freaky-fringe ever took JtP seriously, and I don’t think anyone does now.

Alaska Disasta, I appreciated your commentary on “bated”. One of my writing pet peeves is “towed” substituted for “toed” in “toed the line”. A “towed line” is what you use when trolling (a fishing technique where you drag a baited line behind your boat and hope something dumb latches on). When people are “toeing the line” they are following the rules, however reluctantly, as in keeping their toes behind the line at the beginning of a foot race.

I guess JtP just couldn’t bear to toe the GOP line any more. Or maybe he did get trolled into the Constitution Party or the Aryan Nation or the Brotherhood of the Bald or where ever it is that the disaffected are going.

  63. deist says:

Looking back at McCain’s presidential campaign actions (selecting Palin as VP nominee; palling around with Joe the Plumber), he couldn’t have more effectively implanted the GOP with destructive self-absorbed parasitic contagions. You’d almost think McCain intended to destroy the Republican Party in the same way Bush, with his actions, apparently intended to destroy the United States of America.

I hope McCain succeeded, and I hope Bush didn’t.

  64. Physicsmom says:

@Alaska Disasta – loved the grammar lesson. I didn’t know the origin of the phrase, but I did know that AKM had spelled it incorrectly (sorry AKM). Now if we can just teach all those bloggers to use “than” instead of “then” when making a comparison, I will be a happy English major.

  65. Lee323 says:

Even though he took shameless advantage of his public elevation by the McCain campaign to a level just short of the Saint of Guadalupe, he always seemed somewhat uncomfortable in the role. He even said at one point that he became disillusioned with McCain when he was on a campaign airplane with him. Another time, he just didn’t show up at a rally to do his puppet “mascot” gig.

The guy seemed like “roguishness” was lurking under that bald pate. So, I’m not surprised that he jettisoned himself from the GOP. My impression of his unspoken language: “I’m my own man first and foremost, not just anybody’s property (translation “Ho”) to use.”

I don’t admire the guy but I think he is more of a true “maverick” than McCain and Palin combined….

The problem with Joe is that his dislike and mistrust of Obama outweighed all the pimping McCain and Palin were doing to him…..so he let them use him. His fault.

  66. Professor Geezer says:

  80. AlaskaDisasta says:

Bated and baited sound the same and we no longer use bated (let alone the verb to bate), outside this one set phrase, which has become an idiom. Confusion is almost inevitable. Bated here is a contraction of abated through loss of the unstressed first vowel (a process called aphesis); it means “reduced, lessened, lowered in force”. So bated breath refers to a state in which you almost stop breathing as a result of some strong emotion, such as terror or awe.

Shakespeare is the first writer known to use it, in The Merchant of Venice, in which Shylock says to Antonio: “Shall I bend low and, in a bondman’s key, / With bated breath and whisp’ring humbleness, / Say this …”. Nearly three centuries later, Mark Twain employed it in Tom Sawyer: “Every eye fixed itself upon him; with parted lips and bated breath the audience hung upon his words, taking no note of time, rapt in the ghastly fascinations of the tale”.

For those who know the older spelling or who stop to consider the matter, baited breath evokes an incongruous image; Geoffrey Taylor humorously (and consciously) captured it in verse in his poem Cruel Clever Cat:

    Sally, having swallowed cheese,
Directs down holes the scented breeze,
    Enticing thus with baited breath
Nice mice to an untimely death.

Isn’t that funny. I read this and wondered why you mentioned it, since I used ‘bated’ correctly. Puzzling, I went back and looked and lo and behold! LOL! ‘Tis fixed. AKM

I heard this on Countdown and could hardly stop giggling.

When you suck so bad that you lose your mascot, you know you have hit rock bottom.

Which brings me back to the question I asked AKM earlier, are all of the remaining Republicans living in Alaska? With the GOP in free fall how did we end up with a Dan Sullivan running our city?

  84. Erin says:

I’m still wondering why anyone cares what this guy thinks.

  85. nswfm CA says:

Ick! He said that horny thing? The gop could keep him.

  86. Deep Blue says:

“They are now without the second most embarrassing person John McCain ever associated with.”
