Spawn Till You Die! (Live Webcam)

001

What’s almost as good as eating them, or catching them?  Obsessively watching them under water, that’s what.

This samcam is located underwater in Steep Creek in Juneau, and just might be the best reality TV around.

See Alpha Fish collide as they vie for spawning territory. Frigid underwater hookups are challenging enough, but these young coeds live under constant threat of the ultimate mood killer – bears. Watch them spawn until they die!  Tune in 24/7 to witness the copulation, carnage and relationship decay! It’s literally streaming live!

*Spawn till you die artwork, of course, is by the inimitable Ray Troll.

Gadz, it’s like watching a fire – mesmerizing.

It’s lovely. Here in NYC we have webcams for nests (osprey, falcons, etc.), but I never even thought of a Sa(l)mCam! Terrific.

    Hypnotic, annit?

When littlebird was young, a small aquarium was her nightlight.

    ahhhh, hydrotherapy…
Jump on in, the water’s fine.

…. my young wife then proceeded to walk ,…on top of the water, …. back to the dock, and upon reaching it, climbed up, turned around, , looked at me as I lay in the water, and proceeded…. in no uncertain terms and in great detail….,, espoused greatly upon my heritage and sundry other habits that I may or may not have had…. 🙂

This give a whole new meaning to the words “live streaming” 😉

  6. BearWoman says:

Salmon arrived in the creek today and we had 2 bears looking to eat. The waterfall has been roaring with all the snow melt and rain. Visitors are always welcome and mud puppies get special treatment! Ben you and family should return some day, just stay longer!

We do love showing off our part of Alaska!
And Bear Woman is our tour guide extraordinaire.
      Come visit, Pups!

      • mike from iowa says:

Lose the bears first! Alright, lose the bears after you lose the nutjobs. Is that beeter?

        • Alaska Pi says:

We have far fewer nutjobs in our part of AK though we do have a lot of bears. Bears are mostly way easier to deal with . Some exceptions do apply but by and large
is way safer than going to a city and watching out for the predators there…

    • benlomond2 says:

we plan on it, BearWoman !! just gotta get a few things squared away down here first…like getting D1 married off next summer and D2 through her last year (hopefully!) of college… then we’ll be free! Free at last, free at last, God God Almighty Free at last !!! ( well,, not really, … they never seem to REALLY leave home….. 🙂 ) I PROMISE to take a REAL bath in the falls next time… you DO have that portable fibulator available, right ?

  7. mike from iowa says:

Noticed quite a few fishies swimming DOWNSTREAM WITH THE FLOW. You know what that means? It means the Tundra Tart lied about only dead fish go with the flow. Imagine that!

    • benlomond2 says:

well, when you only see dead fish from the dead lake in front of your house..

      • mike from iowa says:

Why would they ever name a lake-“Loose Seal”? Is there rilly a loose seal in that lake?

  8. benlomond2 says:

to heck with the fishing pole, where;s my gig !!

  9. Alaska Pi says:

Juneau Mudpups took benlomond and his lovely wife here. Is cool to see from the viewing areas but cooler to see in samcam!
    Thanks AKM! 🙂

    • benlomond2 says:

yeah… where I was told no self respecting Alaskan would eat any salmon that wasn’t all silver…!! was a really cool place, and me without fishing pole !!

      • Alaska Pi says:

        😉
        Sssshhh.
We have to whisper that or UgaVic the queen of sockeye will cut off our supply out of Bristol Bay…

ha ha… I am imagining thought bubbles. And watching a salmon do the moonwalk is sort of fun.
