Don Young Goes Roman Empire

Clip9-art

Don Young, you may remember from Jeanne’s previous piece attacked Federal (the number one employer in the state) Employees – well that wasn’t the only crazy that he spouted at Sean Parnell’s Federal Overreach Summit last week.

(Dear lord. How many more of these do we have? A lot.)

This time around he’s comparing he USA to the Roman Empire… because… well… let’s let him explain it.

Here’s a quick excerpt in case some of the brilliant Young-ology didn’t come through on the audio.

“Let’s not have the Roman Empire again. I’m going to tell one more story and then we’re out of time. Just think about this. Read The Fall of the Roman Empire. The smartest, most advanced nation in the world – aqueducts, waterways, I mean you name it. Very smart people. They were so damn smart they had the greatest army in the world. And they decided no one needed to do any more work anymore. They’d import the workers. The government gave them, remember this now, free grain and olive oil for everybody. The young didn’t need to work. They wanted to become scholars. The military they had was so great, they decided to have mercenaries. But the public got a little bit restless. They were bored, so they built coliseums. The Emperor killed a thousand animals in one day in the coliseum, for the sport of it. They had gladiator fights. They had some Christians crucified. Does that remind you of anything?”

That made sense right? Welfare is like grain and olive oil and gladiator fights are like NFL football… and Christians being crucified are like… gay marriage? I dunno. It’s Don Young.

Anyway, please keep checking in we’ve got a lot more of this fun coming out soon.

This, I think, is an important insight:

Dum Young is the perfect example of the little Republican stooge puppet.

With the thoughts you’d be thinkin’
    You could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain…

Who knew that the Romans not only built aqueducts, but also built waterways?

    I certainly didn’t!

Good thing we have ol’ Don around to edjumacate us.

Can’t Alaskans vote this frozen turd out of office? Why is he Congressman for life? Alaska, you could do so much better! Many who post here would be far better for AK in Congress (although I understand that WDC is not nearly as beautiful as your home, and you might be reluctant to leave). Won’t someone qualified run against him?

    Remedial reading for Dum Young:

    Zealot
Empires and Barbarians: The Fall of Rome and the Birth of Europe
The Paranoid Style in American Politics

Also a little reminder that Christians were def not the heroes in Gibbon’s Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.

He obviously never read the book…..

Don’t know if it’s gay marriage sticking (as it were) in his craw, I’m thinking it’s more the overall, unrelenting, un-American, unpatriotic, despicable, and deliberate squashing of the Freedom of Christians to have/celebrate Christmas. Hadn’t you heard? — there’s a War on Christmas! Surely you can see it all around you! — c’mon, get with the program…follow the news…connect the dots…don’t you see the so-called “progressives” and liberals (you know, those Muslim appeasers) are plainly and clearly waging an all-out War on Christmas? ,,, have been for years. Sheesh, where’ve you been? beth.

I saw a short clip of some interview he did with KTUU. I thought WTF?? and where was the follow up question such as: If that’s how you feel, then why did you not only help create this legislation under the Bush Era, but voted for it time and again?

I don’t think he really believes his horse shit, he’s just like Limbaugh, its pure stream of conscious run off of the mouth.

  9. Alaska Pi says:

    Ohhh gawd!
When will we ever be rid of him?

  10. alwaysagardener says:

Would somebody just send him home! What an embarrassment.

Our congress-critter for life, Rep. Don Young always leaves me speechless…
