I’m back from the Assembly meeting, and I tried to type something up.  These events really sap energy.  I was literally falling asledp at the keys, which I noticed when I began a sentence:  “The ofdoncde32…” and then jerked awake.

So, with that, I bid you good night.  I’ll check in with photos of the event tomorrow.

The live blogging was fantastic for anyone who missed it.  You can read over the comments on the last thread.  It was like you all had a ring side seat.  My Blackberry kept getting passed around so our little group could enjoy the comic relief, the sanity, and the compassion of all of you around the world who shared the evening with us.  Thank you.

    Paula @ #100, You’re right.
If SP was not physically attractive I would still think she is a liar and a conniver and a plagiarist and a deceiver and a tax fraud and a thief and a whiny sneak and a poor parent and a narcissist with schizophasia.

She has embarrassed me and my state for far too long.

I’m just grateful that the rest of the Nation is getting an earful.

Michael Reagan told her to Shut Up on June 3rd and less than a week later she was all over the air as a Banshee full of lies for a minimum of Nine Days.

Has she no concept of self-appearance or shame?

#247 I wish I could tell my bill collectors that mail I receive doesn’t count as being received until I open it. That is one of the most ridiculous things I ever heard. Mail is counted as received on the day it is delivered.

Why doesn’t she have someone opening the mail/gifts and disclosing all of the things received. Instead Palin sez, “I have reported those gifts received thus far that are required to be disclosed.” Like I would trust SP to be honest.

This is just another example of her ineptitude.

Judging by the number of deleted comments on ADN they must have the most abusive posters of any publication in north America.

Gov. Sarah Palin is telling the Alaska Public Offices Commission she doesn’t want to disclose the discount her husband, Todd, receives on purchases of Arctic Cat snowmachines.
    ———————————————————–

Curious that APOC is asking for Arctic Cat disclosures when the ethics complaint against Palin regarding Arctic Cat was summarily dismissed with apparently little scrutiny. Sounds like there are lingering questions…as well there should be.

Funny but very astute post by Jim David on HuffPo….”Now, It’s Comedians Who Are The Victims.”

“This is the same woman who advised us to “screw political correctness” and then has a fit when a comic screws political correctness and tells a joke. This is the same woman who said she knows foreign policy because Alaska is next to Russia, then whined when comics joked about it. The same woman who insists that the children of politicians are off-limits but put her daughter on the cover of People. The same woman who can’t even reign in Levi Johnston from discussing his sex life with her daughter on “Larry King Live,” much less handle the nation’s nuclear codes. (snip)

Gov. Sarah Palin is telling the Alaska Public Offices Commission she doesn’t want to disclose the discount her husband, Todd, receives on purchases of Arctic Cat snowmachines.
“Todd Palin is entitled to discounts on purchases (as he has received the last 16 years as an Iron Dog racer.) However, according to the terms of his sponsorship agreement, the exact amount of the discount is confidential as a proprietary trade secret,” the governor wrote to APOC officials on Monday.

Dr’s say the spider was not venomous, as I had no symptoms of a venomous reaction. Apparently, I have a sensitivity, but not an allergy, to something in a spider’s bite and the whole thing turned into a massive cellulitis infection.

There was never anything that could be cultured from the bite area – only a small scab – and it was the surrounding skin/tissue that got infected (itchy and hot, hot, hot!), not the bite site itself. Go figure!

When she ended up peeing in her pants in public,he then had to let her go home. She went home, cleaned up,and called a lawyer. She collected a tidy sum from our employer in a settlement ,the casinos attorneys insisted on the settlement instead of a trial, because they knew they would lose, and badly.

So we finally have the reason why Republican legislators voted against locating privately-funded statues of Al Gore and Cordell Hull, our state’s two Nobel Peace Prize winners, on state capitol grounds: it’s because Gore’s not dead yet:

On largely party lines, the Senate voted Tuesday not to support a proposal to erect statues depicting Gore and fellow Nobel laureate Cordell Hull, on the basis that recipients of Capitol Hill honors should be dead. Hull died in 1955.

    (jumping down the article to)

“I don’t think anyone knows who he is or why he’s there,” said attorney and professor Lewis Laska. “Edward Ward Carmack was one of the most racist politicians in Tennessee history.” Laska feels the statue should come down because of what Carmack stood for.

“He wanted the 15th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution repealed. That’s the amendment that gave black men the right to vote. He thought that lynching was a good idea because it kept black people ‘in their place,'” said Laska.

Well by all means let’s keep the statue of Carmack on the state capitol grounds, then. And let’s make sure no Republican legislator has to gaze upon the visage of Al Gore on his or her way into work. That would be just too awful.

Pardon me for going on a Snark Rant, but Sarah, did you actually just tweet this?

“NOTHING more important than safety of our babies”

Seems ya didn’t think so in April 2008 when you hopped two planes from Texas to Alaska then rode in a car for an hour (I presume Todd or someone else actually did the driving) while (according to you) 8 months pregnant with a diagnosed special needs, Down Syndrome child, and experiencing anmiotic fluid leaking BEFORE you gave your speech in Dallas and then embarked on this trip, rather than just … go to a hospital in Dallas and get checked out by a doctor.

Or even going straight from the Anchorage airport to a hospital and, ya know, getting checked out by a doctor.

Hey, maybe you were right. Maybe there was nothing to worry about. Why not, when it comes to the health of your baby, take the ‘better safe than sorry’ route? I mean, “NOTHING is more important than the safety of our babies”. I would think that would include Mom being OK about being a little inconvenienced about her travel palns, and Dad not minding if their little bundle of joy was born in Texas rather than Alaska.

If NOTHING is more inportant than the safety of our babies, that means if we do err, we choose to err on the side of caution.

So, you really don’t understand why the ridiculous Trig birth stories can continue? Your own story of his birth is so unbelievable from the standpoint of THE SAFETY OF YOUR OWN BABY!!! And the appearance of your choices demonstrates that making sure Trig was born at a particular hospital in Alaska was more important than his health and well-being, not to mention yours (potentially), and not to mention the tremendous disregard for the passengers and crew of the flights if you had “been wrong” about when that baby was going to decide to arrive.

David Lettermen said it in his apology Monday night – Appearance is what ultimately wins out, not the intent.

Your choices made it APPEAR as if you were either making up the whole, or at least parts, of the Trig birth story (e.g., you are a liar), or, if your story is true, you appear to an absolutely reckless person, exhibiting what most would call poor judgement, when it comes to making decisions.

I do not want either liars, reckless decision-makers, or people with poor judgement as the people who are representing me at ANY level of government, and I especially do not want liars, reckless decision-makers or persons with poor judgement as President of the US.

    Snark Rant over.

“Umm …. Someone needs to take the Governor aside and tell her what socialism is. Looks like you guys have a taste of it up in Alaska.

In the meantime, why don’t we nationalize our oil companies the way socialist countries like Norway do. Like Alaska, Norway believes oil revenues belong to the people, not a corporation. Except in Norway, it belongs to all the people, not just those who live near the oil platforms.

Of course, in this country these royalties–when they are collected–are supposed to go to the Dept. of the Interior. However, Houston, we have a little problem:

WASHINGTON – June 9 – The U.S. Interior Department is wrongly withholding information that will reveal whether taxpayers are being ripped off in a controversial oil and gas royalty program, according to a lawsuit filed today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). Interior claims that disclosure of bidding and contracting information about its Royalty-In-Kind sales would reveal oil company trade secrets.

Oh, whah. That would just be too f*cking bad, now wouldn’t it. Geez, what is it with the graft at the Interior Dept.? Must be too many loyal Bushies still left behind.”

Obviously the adult thing is to talk to the coach. If unresolved talk to the principal. If unresolved talk to the superintendent. If unresolved talk to the school board.

If unresolved you get a lawyer and you sue.

Of course, you can also see if all of the girls will band together and quit en masse. Doing it at a press conference stating the reason WHY they are all quiting, outlining steps taken and why the issue remains unresolved.etc.

Of course, you can always tell them that if it EVER happens again, to hold their cups and as they pass by the coach to accidentally “trip”, emptying said contents on to the coach. Be sure to apologize profusely and sound sincere. Practice with cups of water and in front of a mirror if necessary. Make sure they know you’ll back them up. You’d have to get all parents on board with this one too. So you’d have to go through all above steps first so parent understand the unity of the last resort.

BTW coach is an a$$. He’d be so fired in my school district. If I got a whiff of this I’d have his job, even though I’m not a parent, just a fellow teacher.

When I worked in government, I could never use my title if I was acting in my capacity and right to act as a private citizen. Ever then, I had to be careful to avoid an appearance of a conflict of interest. Using my title inappropriately would be grounds for disciplinary action.

  55. London Bridges says:

When Palin is governor it is a title that specifically indicates her position. After she is deposed, it will be clearly known as a term of respect as all will know she is no longer governor.

    Thus, I disagree.

Whether you speak of Palin as a citizen or as in her capacity in office, she is addressed as Governor Palin. When she leaves office, in private, she’s Sarah but at functions or in the news, she will be the Former Governor of Alaska and some will still call her Governor

Example: What does Bill Clinton get called today. Same with Bush 1. PRESIDENT

Think about the people she works for as a secretary. Since January alone, they’ve accused Barack Obama of being a foreign national. They’ve accused the federal government of turning socialist. They’ve tried to assert their sovereignty from the United States, playing the part of ingrate welfare client. (Last I heard, Tennessee gets $1.23 back for every dollar it kicks to the feds in taxes.)

They profess love for Jesus, but won’t listen to what he has to say. They’ve tried to kill prenatal care, women’s health clinics, and pre-kindergarten funding. They’ve even attempted to reject federal stimulus money for the unemployed. But they have tried to put a gun in every bar, park and playground. Jesus would have liked that.

  71. London Bridges says:

It seems to me that, in most occurrences, when Meg Stapleton (MS) speaks for Palin, it is a clear violation of conflict of interest and ethics rules.

    Here is why:

    1. MS identifies herself as “Palin’s spokeperson.
    2. While MS may have made a statement once or twice that she works for Sarah Ann Palin’s (SAP) PAC, I believe that in order to avoid a conflict of interest, MS would have to state her disclaimer EVERY SINGLE TIME she speaks on behalf of SAP. (Is Ann, Sarah’s middle name? )
    3. In her speeches, MS refers to SAP as Governor Palin. This clearly indicates she is speaking on behalf the governor of Alaska, not private citizen SAP.
    4. A conflict of interest occurs whenever one’s actions gives the appearance of a conflict of interest. The population at large has no way of knowing listening to any given MS speech that she is not representing the governor of Alaska in her role as governor of Alaska.

If any Alaskan’s agree with this assessment, be my guest to use it and file a complaint. First, preserve as many of MS’s speeches as possible before they are disappeared,

Don’t know if this has already been put up, but it is a petition regarding the Obama administration and their stance on gay marriage.

    Dear Friend,

They compared same-sex marriage to a marriage between an uncle and a
niece. Or between two children. No, we’re not talking about Rick Santorum.
We’re talking about the Obama administration’s Justice Department. The
brief the DOJ presented defending the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in
federal court was not just wrong. It was offensive. The New York Times
called it “disturbing” in its lead editorial
    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/16/opinion/16tue1.html
    .

Back in the days of the 2008 campaign, Senator Obama promised he would
work to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act. But now that a gay couple in
California is challenging DOMA in federal court, President Obama has
chosen to take action to defend a law that prevents legally married
same-sex couples from receiving any federal benefits, or from having their
    marriages recognized in other states.

I just signed a petition to tell President Obama and Attorney General
Holder to withdraw this offensive brief and apologize for its contents.
(The website also has a great video of Rachel Maddow and Howard Dean
discussing the importance of this issue!) Please have a look and take
    action.

Woman Who Runs With Wolves: Here’s my two cents worth: What if the girl in question was having a different medical problem, say, an epileptic seizure? Would the coach have been prepared to handle that kind of emergency? Is she trained to call 911 (or whatever the correct emergency response place would be). When the coach is responsible for her team, does she carry contact numbers in case of an emergency, say parental consent for an operation is, for example, the bus was in an accident? These are all fair questions that should be put to the school and the district, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable if that teacher was in charge of my kid under any circumstances– bad judgment at the least, dangerous at the worst. It’s really the parents who have to make the complaint, but if your kid was on the bus, you are entitled to know how they will care for your child in an emergency.

(By the way, when my daughter took Drivers Ed in High School, the instructor had the kids making a dangerous, illegal maneuver when they were out driving; he was an ignorant idiot. When I heard how he was endangering the kids out in traffic, I called the Police for that school district, asking them how I should handle the situation. Thankfully, since he was an accident waiting to happen, my name was left out of it and the Police informed the school. He graded exams and did indoor work, and never took kids out again).

Just had to share these tidbits from the ADN article ( http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/anchorage/city_election/assembly/story/833422.html ):

“We know we’re not going to change anyone’s opinion here. We came to do battle,” said Reuben Scheeringa, a teacher at Anchorage Christian School who brought dozens of teens, many of them from a church in the Lower 48, to take up positions outside Loussac Library, where the Assembly was meeting. His group stood opposed to the ordinance.

    and this (!):

Meanwhile, in front of the library facing 36th Avenue, ordinance advocates waved signs at cars and danced while a DJ blasted music from a makeshift setup. Michael Burke, a senior pastor at St. Mary’s Episcopal stood with those supporting the ordinance.

“It would be very, very hard not to be here,” he said. He talked about Christian values and “loving your neighbor as yourself … and upholding the dignity of each and every person.”

Burke said he had spoke with opponents of the ordinance on the back side of the library. “I think I make them uneasy,” he said. “Jesus would be deeply troubled with what they are doing here.”

    That’s the Christianity we practice!

Lettermans ratings would be off the charts.
Letterman should invite Levi Johnston to come on the Show….? How funny would THAT be…?

I’m not sure Rex Butler would endorse or recommend it, but it would be Comedy Gold. I emailed Rex once before, just for support, when he stepped up to defend the Johnstons. Maybe I will put the idea out there again with an email.

If there are skeletons in his closet, they are likely to come from the Washington end of the country, as he hasn’t been in AK for a very long time. Hope he didn’t work too closely with John Yoo or Scooter Libby or some such. AK really does deserve a competent AG! On paper, he looks like the anti-WARthog, except for the R affiliation, of course. I decided not to comment ever again on the last week’s DL saga, it was giving me a headache. Now, another statement from MS? Who are these people? Why do they contrive to get SP’s children’s names in almost every statement, thus providing more fodder for gossip columnists. They are feeding the fire, it bursts into flames, then they attack and blame commenters.

I wouldn’t allow my daughter under this coach’s control for even one minute unless I was with her. Coach needs to be EXPOSED and FIRED. An “apology” won’t cut it this time. There must be CONSEQUENCES. I’d go as far as jail time, actually. Not only the pain and anxiety, but the poor girl had to drop her pants in a moving vehicle in front of (thank God!) friends in order to relieve herself. I’d consider that quite an embarrassing moment.

Letterman: His ratings are improving just because of SP! How ironic is it that she said she wouldn’t go on the show to “boost” his ratings! She doesn’t even have to show up to help him out! HAHA. ====
Lets set aside opinions for a moment.

If a normal politician was questioned on something very private and basic like that, then the normal reaction would be to not bother refuting the claim, especially if there was no solid evidence.

(Obama’s birth certificate is a publicly held record.)
It seems to me that as long as Palin has people questioning this, the more she can claim she is the subject of false charges and wild theories.
Medical records are private, and normally they stay private (except when its in the public interest to know about a public officials fitness to serve) and so its up to Palin to release them or not.
Her choice seems to be – not.

Unless someone can obtain definitive medical tests, that issue is going to appear to be coming from the conspiracy theorists fringes, and serve Palin’s interests.

  166. Women Who Run With The Wolves says:

    @ Paula and Sauerkraut

Thanks! No, my daughter is not the best on the team. But this “woman coach” is an abuser and our school district knows it, they are to afraid to let her go, She’s playing the race and gender card. Our girls are suffering under her manic episodes, and most of the parents are afraid if they try to get rid of her then her husband who also coaches the boys team, will NOT allow their sons to play. It’s kind of like throwing your daughters under the bus so the sons can play. Meanwhile this coach not only verbally abuses the girls who are all in high school, she also verbally abuses the parents as well.

No my daughter will not be allowed to play softball next year. I will NOT tolerate her abusing my daughter, nor anyone elses daughter.

What’s tragic is the girl who was made to pee standing up in a moving van in front of the whole team, her parents really don’t seem to care. It’s getting swept under the carpet. This young lady just turned 18 yrs. old and she really does not understand how awful this situation is. By the time the team pulled into Palmer, she was sitting on the bench crying and another parent from our team asked her what was wrong. This is how we all found out. The parent who talked to this young lady, called me and we just cried over the phone. I have been trying to get help for a couple of years and trying to get this coach removed, but the district will not do anything about it. This was the final straw for me and my daughter. I am so sad with some of these moms that are placing a grater value on their sons then their daughters. I have sons and daughters, and I would never ever place a greater value of one over the other, especially when team mates are being degraded, humiliated and abused.

Sauerkraut I will leave you a message and give you the details over on your website.

That said, I wonder what the cee-fers might have to say about the video. Anyone not yet banned, that might, y’know, just happen to “mention” it there?

    Nan

  174. Isabella says:

jc in co, that is a spot on assessment of Palin.

  175. jc in co says:

one other thing, did anyone notice at the end the 2 guys making out in the background? Someone at huffpo said they were Howard Stern staff, still funny.

  176. Paula says:

It’s the new Sarah Palin dance? Rap to that baby!

    Megtard, LOL!

  177. Isabella says:

So what are your summer plans?

We are staying in Portland the 4th since local firework shows have been canceled and you cannot get a room in Seattle for a reasonable rate.

Then were going to, The Great Wolf Lodge, have to stay the night because they do not allow access to water park otherwise…we live less then 30 minutes away, lame to spend so much bit this is our splurge.

Then camping for a couple days at the coast. Has anyone ever stayed in a KOA cabin?

  178. jc in co says:

I think Sarah’s outrage backfired. Now that the video of the 15 wingnut protesters is out people will remember that all she is good for is inciting
unstable people. Anyone with a brain will try to distance themselves from
that crowd. Wonkette had a funny comment regarding Sarah always outplaying her hand. Something like at first people think maybe she has a point. But then she comes running in waving her arms screaming that Dave wants to rape her
14 year old & anyone that disagrees with doesn’t support the troops!

  179. TBNTJudy says:

@Isabella, one woman spewing hate in the video link you provided said Letterman made a joke about a child who was watching “an American basketball game.” Jeez, she is really paying attention. Then there was a really tall man, yelling at a group of counter protesters, who did that back-and-forth-head weaving thing at a black woman. Talk about racist. His body language said it all.

  180. Canadian Neighbour says:

    Morning” Mudpups!!

Reading and listening to different things, gotta say,

The cult protesters are just that. They believe everything she says and look no further to find anything for themselves. I seriously think they missed the gene pool for ability to educate themselves as to anything in the world beyond their their/her A’hole.

Two old broads at the protest — “they were at a basketball game!!” – Oh Really. Amazing how they’ve rammed this ad nauseam all week and in reality, has no clue where they even were.

“Would he want that stuff said about his DAUGHTER?” –Dave should ask for an apology for his SON.

    From Megtard
“It is all so very unfortunate. WE CAN DO BETTER. We can and should focus on real issues, not fabricated issues.”

Wouldn’t that be a concept. Hey Megtard – you might wanna try it. Address your CeePee’s & those like them. Preaching in generalized terms — you’re barking up the wrong tree.

  181. Paula says:

Yeah, though quite raunchy, the video covered her power hunger, a likely unintended reference to the recent arrest of the GOPer who set up a sex date WITH a teenager and planned to ‘do it’ dresses in an animal suit, the baby thing (oops), etc.

The Letterman video? When is Palin going to apologize to Dave on behalf of her sicko fans?

Letterman Resists Making Joke About Palin Wanting Massive Pipeline

One day after apologizing to Alaska governor Sarah Palin about a controversial joke he made on his late-night program, comedian David Letterman has so far resisted the urge to make a joke about Gov Palin’s desire for a massive pipeline, a source close to Mr. Letterman revealed today.

“Here you have the words ‘Sarah Palin’ and ‘massive pipeline’ in the same sentence,” the source said. “If David were to leave that alone, it would almost be dereliction of duty.”

According to the source, “David first wants to make sure that there’s no confusion between a Palin pipeline and Piper Palin — that would be a real headache.”

Interesting. Makes me wonder about Palin’s employer provided blackberry.

Read something about IRS rules re employer provided cell phones and PDA’s, and the requirement that employees claim the benefit of those items on their tax forms. Has Palin done so? Hmmm… well, looks like the IRS might be relaxing their regs re same… perhaps it’s time to take a jaunt over to the taxprof blog.

“IRS Calls for Ending Taxation of Employer-Provided Cell Phones.

Two weeks ago the Internal Revenue Service raised the hopes of many campus business officers by suggesting ways it might relax federal rules governing how employers must account for usage of cell phones they provide to workers, regulations that have proved vexing (and expensive) in some federal audits of colleges and universities. But Tuesday it went even further, as Commissioner Doug Shulman announced that the agency would no longer consider employees’ use of employer-provided cell phones to be a taxable benefit. “Secretary Geithner and I ask that Congress act to make clear that there will be no tax consequence to employers or employees for personal use of work-related devices such as cell phones provided by employers,” Shulman said. “The passage of time, advances in technology, and the nature of communication in the modern workplace have rendered this law obsolete.””

Now Palin, is trying to attach herself to the Gosslings or has she made herself such a MEDIA WH’RE every drowning D Lister is going to try to tack their name to hers for headlines?

PALIN DID THIS TO OUR ALASKA….SHAMEFUL!!!

Sarah Palin hasn’t been counseling Jon and Kate Gosselin, despite a report from a gossip Web site.

Examiner.com reported the Alaska governor “called Jon out of the blue” because she felt sorry about the media coverage the reality star had been receiving following his affair with 23-year-old Deanna Hummel, which Us Weekly first reported.

“He was quite shocked,” the unnamed friend is quoted saying. The site also claims Gosselin and Palin have been speaking three times a week. Palin is supposedly urging him to seek redemption in Jesus, and counseling him on the importance of keeping their family together — telling him that if he leaves Kate, their eight children will suffer.

Palin’s spokesperson, Meghan Stapleton, slams the report.

“For many months now, false and misleading stories and entire fabrications about the Governor’s record and the Palin family have made it into mainstream publications,” she tells Usmagazine.com in a statement.

Griffin takes on Palin on Larry King:

    GRIFFIN: Do you know…

KING: Let’s go to Sarah Palin first.

GRIFFIN: I can’t believe I got bumped for Levi Johnston.

    KING: You didn’t get bumped.

GRIFFIN: Yes, I — don’t try to dress it up, Larry.

KING: He came on five minutes later.

GRIFFIN: Levi Johnston, who probably can’t even spell his own name.

    (LAUGHTER)

GRIFFIN: He doesn’t know that kid’s name. You were asking him if he bonds with the kid. He didn’t even know the kid’s name.

    (LAUGHTER)

GRIFFIN: And — and then he sees — he sees the kid. You know what, he sees the kid for the photo-op in “People” magazine, where he has his shirt off.

Why can’t they buy him a shirt over there at the Palin household?

KING: Let’s move — what do you make of the Letterman joke?

GRIFFIN: Well, as a matter of fact, I was on “The Letterman Show” the night that he addressed it for the first time.

    KING: Oh, I didn’t…

    GRIFFIN: It was very exciting.

    KING: Oh.

    GRIFFIN: Yes.

    KING: And?

GRIFFIN: And he was saying that he made a joke and it was in bad taste, but he’s made thousands of jokes in bad taste and the audience laughed.

So I think that the governor, Palin, is a moron. I would use that as a technical term. And I would say that the first dude seems like a tool. What that means is he seems, you know, kind of useless and lazy and shiftless. And I wonder how he wears that ski suit all the time and how he goes to the bathroom. But that’s not my business. I’m a political comedian.

KING: All right. The question was, what do you make of the Letterman incident?

GRIFFIN: Oh. Well, I think he should be allowed to say whatever he wants. And he is David Letterman…

KING: Do you think it was in bad taste?

    GRIFFIN: Yes. I loved it.

    (LAUGHTER)

GRIFFIN: I think it could be in worse taste and…

KING: If he was referring to the 14-year-old.

GRIFFIN: I would like to refer and make fun of all the kids, including the infants. So I believe…

    KING: Why?

    Why would you do that?

GRIFFIN: I just think it’s fun. I think that comedians should have a little bit of a — I call it the Rickles license to kill.

You know how Rickles can say things that no one else can get away with?

    KING: Correct.

What are they going to do to him?

GRIFFIN: What are they going to do to him?

And, so, you know, Letterman is the great Letterman. And he was clearly making a joke and it was a funny joke…

KING: Do you think he’s clearly now a little chagrined, a little sad, a little…

GRIFFIN: No, he’s winning the ratings war, I think.

    KING: Ah.

    GRIFFIN: You know, he’s winning.

    KING: Do you…

GRIFFIN: He can apologize all day because he’s taking those ratings to the bank.

KING: Do you think he might invite her on the show?

GRIFFIN: He did. When I — the night that I was there, he said the governor has an open invitation. But she’s too stupid…

KING: Do you think she should go?

GRIFFIN: No. No. I mean he’s going to — she’s going to be — he’s going to like work her like a bag in the gym. Badadadadada. She doesn’t know. Did — Katie Couric, who does nothing but want to talk about shoes…

    (LAUGHTER)

GRIFFIN: …you know, threw her for a loop. I mean if you can’t handle Couric, don’t go to Letterman, you know.

KING: So you make — all of this is what to you?

    GRIFFIN: It’s all fodder.

    KING: Fodder?

GRIFFIN: It’s all fair game. It’s all fodder. Yes.

KING: Where — what do you think is going to happen to Levi?

Do you think he’s going to…

GRIFFIN: Oh, I think he’s going to be a Supreme Court justice. He’s going to be the chief one and take over for John Roberts.

    (LAUGHTER)

GRIFFIN: Look out Sotomayor, because here comes Levi Johnston, chief Supreme — look, he’s an idiot. He’ll be lucky to get some welfare, you know.

    (LAUGHTER)

GRIFFIN: And she’d better watch where that state funding goes and take those checks, because he’s going to need it more than the rest of the state is.

    KING: Do you think…

GRIFFIN: He’s going to be shirtless in an igloo.

KING: Do you think Sarah might be president some day?

    GRIFFIN: No. Oh, God.

    Can you imagine?

No. I would — well, you know who I want to be president is…

    KING: Who?

GRIFFIN: …Suze Orman. I think she would be the perfect president.

    KING: Why?

GRIFFIN: Because you need a good financially focused lesbian in the White House, that’s why.

I have a question to pose to my friends here at Mudflats.

We have been having problems with my daughters softball coach. This person has a personality disorder like our dear Gino.

Recently on a trip to play State ball in Anchorage, the coach drove the girls team down to Palmer to watch the boys play. Meanwhile one of the girls (18 yrs. old) had to use the bathroom, and the coach refused to pull over. Even though the girl was in pain and crying. Finally the girl stood up in the van, pulled her pants down and started peeing in the van because she couldn’t hold it in any longer. She was crying. The coach still would not pull over. Meanwhile my daughter and a few other softball players were holding drinking cups for this girl to pee in and then my daughter had to continue to hold one of the cups until the coach finally stopped the vehicle.

Our School District Superintendent, thinks that abusing girls is just fine, especially if the coach is female.

Does anyone here have a background in child protective law or work for the State protective agency? Or any thoughts on this situation.

UK Lady, that Iraq thing – making it all about herself and not the troops – was not the slightest bit funny, but in the rush to promote herself she couldn’t see that.

Nope, no 20 minutes of standup word salad – no way, Jose.

WE are the only ones who find her amusing. 😉

redwoodmuse, ‘pink and pulsing and full of wrinkles’ never sounded so good.

    I’ll keep praying.

Yes he does. The dirtbag. They are Fox in disguise. Watered down but it’s there. But it clearly states she did this stand up routine, I am beyond confused. austintx is quite right, she cannot tell a joke, as is obvious on her shout out on Colbert to the troops, went over like a lead balloon, she had to bring it back to herself and mention her son, the troops weren’t impressed.

Thanks to all for prayers and light. My SIL came out of surgery sooner than expected (1.5 hours instead of 2). Doc says it is as good as it can be. They took off two pieces of his skull and stored them away. They found a blood clot (removed it) and lots of blood pooled where it shouldn’t have been (vacuumed it out). Doc says he has a ‘pink and pulsing brain’ full of wrinkles although swollen. Now, we wait. I know you all made a difference. You folks are the awesomest (as an official journalist, I believe that is a real word and not an SP derivative).
Thanks for the live stream, but I’ll be reading it later today. Off to finish putting the paper out…deadlines ticking away.

thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Is Sarah Palin funny? No. End of story.

You’d be better off having another cup of tea, UK Lady. Sarah Palin has no sense of humor.

Does Rupert Murdoch own Sky? 😉

I am having the biggest WTF moment in this whole brouhaha with Letterman thing yet!

I am going to quote straight from the Sky News interactive on my TV in England.

“Sarah Palin has accepted TV host David Letterman’s apology over a sexually charged joke about her teenage daughter.

“Of course it’s accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men who ‘joke’ about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve.”

Letterman had joked that one of Palin’s daughters would be “knocked up” by a player after appearing at an American Football game.

Palin had already got her own back on the TV personality by appearing at a comedy club and doing a 20 minute set of anti-Letterman jokes.

I kid you not, that is on my TV screen right now!

So either Sky got punked or the US got punked and Palin is really a Borat style comedienne!!

Or she really did that and started a massive war with comedians that she cannot possibly win. I’m off to see if there is anything about this anywhere else.
