Guess What Happened to Palin’s Attorney?

It’s time for our latest once-in-a-while episode of “What Ever Happened to…?” wherein we discover the fate of some of our favorite Palinbots from the bygone era of the shortest gubernatorial term in Alaska state history.

In our last episode we discovered that Truth Squad team captain Ed O’Callaghan made his way all the way to the White House where he delivered a misleading report on immigration last month! We’re all so proud.

This week, I’m excited to report that we’re keeping up with one of our most favoritest ever villains in the Palin melodrama. Long-time Mudflatters may remember him from his many appearances as Snidely Whiplash. Yes, I refer to our old friend and Palin’s personal attorney and confidant, Thomas Van Flein.

Here’s a “then and now.”

This is Mr. Van Flein’s current official photo.

Last time we saw Mr. Van Flein, we were standing by the train tracks and waving our little white hankies as he headed off to the nation’s capital. There he would be taking a year-long leave of absence from his law firm to join the team of a then-new congressman from one of the only state that gave Alaska a run for its wing-nut money – Arizona. This congressman was, of course, endorsed by Palin herself, along with Trump-pardoned jackass Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and then-governor of Arizona Jan Brewer.

Mr. Van Flein must have done well for his congressman, because he is now the Chief of Staff for… drumroll please…

Rep. Paul Gosar.

Yes, that one. Rep. Gosar has distinguished himself in a room full of insane partisan hackery about the Nunes memo as the one with his hair MORE on fire than anyone else. And that’s saying something.

[He] said on Friday that the House intelligence memo on alleged FBI malfeasance showed “clear and convincing evidence of treason” by law enforcement officials, despite lingering concerns in the intelligence community over its credibility.

That’s right, treason. Treason which is punishable by what?

That is correct – death.

DEATH TO THEM ALLLLL!

We can see that the team of Gosar/Van Flein is really on its messaging game.

Gosar announced he will urge Attorney General Jeff Sessions to seek “criminal prosecution against these traitors to our nation.” That’s right, Team Gosar-VanFlein is going to ask Jeff Sessions to seek the death penalty for James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Sally Yates and Rod Rosenstein.

Maybe Snidely can tie them to the train tracks himself! Have fun with that, kids!

Mr. Comey, former FBI Director who was fired by Trump (nothing to see folks, move along), had a different response to the Republican memo on Twitter.

“That’s it? Dishonest and misleading memo wrecked the House intel committee, destroyed trust with Intelligence Community, damaged relationship with FISA court, and inexcusably exposed classified investigation of an American citizen. For what? DOJ & FBI must keep doing their jobs.”

If your hair is also on fire about the memo, have a seat, take a breath and read 5 takeaways.

And what have we learned from this episode of “What Ever Happened to…?” You may think that when rats leap from a sinking ship they’re gone. But now we know just how well they swim.

    Oh yeck.
I remember being being put off by Mr Van Flein’s maneuvers to protect whatzername but at some level gave him grudging credit for trying to do the lawyerly representation thingy for his client- which had to be a nightmare with that client.
But Chief of Staff for this dingbat?
Grudging credit has just turned into full blown disgust.

Guess what hairpinned to Palin’s attorney? Not enough truly bad things would be my first guess. That family is the yeast infection that never quits.
