Shenanigans & a Secret Stalker! -

Welcome to the Fray.

There’s a bit of sage advice that most politicians take to heart:  Rise above the fray.  President Obama is a great example of how this works.  Sarah Palin and spokeswoman Meg Stapleton are a great example of why the advice exists in the first place, and as we have seen before, they are main characters in yet another cautionary tale.

After the now infamous “Divagate” incident, Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton issued the following ill-conceived screed:

Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother’s love for a special needs child.

The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling. To learn that two Alaskans did it is absolutely sickening. Linda Kellen Biegel, the official Democrat Party blogger for Alaska, should be ashamed of herself and the Democratic National Committee should be ashamed for promoting this website and encouraging this atrocious behavior.

Babies and children are off limits. It is past time to restore decency in politics and real tolerance for all Americans. The Obama Administration sets the moral compass for its party. We ask that special needs children be loved, respected and accepted and that this type of degeneracy be condemned.

Just in the interest of entering the weekend with a clean slate, I thought it would be appropriate to clear up a few things.  Contrary to what you may have heard from the rumor mill, I am not being paid by the Republican Party to clean up their mistakes.  I do it out of the goodness of my heart.
1)  desecration (noun) –

An act of disrespect or impiety toward something regarded as sacred: blasphemy, profanation, sacrilege, violation. See sacred/profane.

“Malicious desecration?”  “Iconic representation?”  Does the spokeswoman or the governor herself believe that a picture of she and Trig is literally a sacred object?  Might be time to find that knob that says “rhetoric” and turn it down a notch…or three.  I mean, if you’re worried about offending people and all.

2) Linda Kellen Biegel is not the official Democrat Partyblogger for Alaska.  This requires a two part debunking, so bear with me.

a)  As we all know, there is no “Democrat” Party.  That’s just a made up name courtesy of Frank Luntz and Newt Gingrich, used because it ends in “rat“.  Get it?  It’s sort of a juvenile insult.  It’s actually called the Democratic Party, and when anyone says “Democrat” party, members of the DemocratIC party instantly know they are being insulted, and they tune your message out, or think they should believe exactly the opposite.  So, is she really trying to insult the 70 million Americans who are members of the Democratic Party, while simultaneously stating that she is advocating for children with disabilities?  Is she only really concerned about Republican families with special needs children?  Is this issue a partisan smack down?  Or did she just not learn the correct name of the largest political party in the nation while she attended Georgetown University?  It’s a head scratcher.

b)  All that aside,  the Democratic Party in Alaska does not have an official blogger. Nor does Linda Kellen Biegel have an official connection to the Democratic National Committee, which also does not have an Alaskan blogger.

Here’s the story.  Linda Kellen Biegel won a contest.  The Democratic National Convention Committee (the folks who planned and put together the convention last August) had a contest, and they picked a blogger from each state to attend.  Linda won, and she went.  That’s it.  She’s not affiliated with the party in any way.  Former Voice of the Times editor turned conservative talk show host Paul Jenkins talked about that today.  How did he know?  Simple.  He asked….Linda Kellen Biegel.   Clever lad.

If they have enough money, I think SarahPAC needs to bust open the piggybank and hire a fact checker.  Or they should pay Stapleton 10 or 12 minutes of overtime pay so she can Google this stuff herself, or make a phone call.

3)  (This is my favorite) Meg Stapleton wants the President of the United States to speak out and condemn “degeneracy” found on a local blog in Anchorage Alaska in the form of a Photoshopped image of Sarah Palin holding a baby featuring the head of a local degenerate talk show host.

Let’s think this through for a minute.  What might be the outcome of this request?  Does Palin believe that the President of the United States, leader of the free world,  will stop what he’s doing, and get down in the political muck to bring down a woman who runs a local political blog in Anchorage Alaska?  I’m guessing he’s smart enough to recognize that this would be a foolish idea.  No national politician in their right mind would go there.  Which is why Sarah Palin does.  And why our president in 2012 will be … Barack Obama.

Besides, he’s got his own battles to fight right now…like this recent depiction of him and his beautiful baby daughter….who now sports the apalling head of none other than liberal bazillionaire George Soros.

He’ll probably be trying to find out who’s responsible for this shameful slight to African American babies and asking the head of that person’s political party to apologize to all the innocents that have been maligned.  Or, perhaps…just perhaps… he won’t get near stuff like this with a 10-foot pole.  Let’s see what happens.

In the mean time, remember that lesson we learned up there in the first line?

Click here, and Welcome to the fray.

Palin is the first narcissistic comedian to Govern Alaska. I do enjoy watching Palin and Meg +8 ; each unscripted episode continues to convince the rest of Alaska and the rest of the country that she is truly is not POTUS material, and never will be – EVER, also.

Loving your child doesn’t make you a hero Sarah. It just makes you human. You embarrass yourself. Since these numbnuts have so little going for them, they’re always congratulating themselves for ‘achievements’ like being an American citizen, being heterosexual, being married, having a job, being a parent. Talk about setting the bar low. I’m a mother. My child has special needs and she’s adopted. By Sarah and Meg’s reckoning I’m a freaking saint. Last time I checked I wasn’t any better than anybody else, let alone ready to pose for an icon. There’s something really monstrous about congratulating yourself for loving your child. Was it a terrible struggle or something?

    Besides she’s a lousy parent.

  5. beth says:

“Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother’s love for a special needs child.” ~SP in her statement (via Stapleton)

Um, does she understand the mechanics of the English language? The construct of the above statement makes me wonder. According to the way the above portion of her statement is written, it is the maliciously desecrated photo (of baby Trig and his mother) that “has become the iconic representation…”. (Go on, re-read it – read exactly what it says…)

What she MEANT to say is: “Recently we learned a photo of the Governor and baby Trig, one that has become an iconic representation of a mother’s love for a special needs child, has been maliciously desecrated.”

Instead, she releases a statement stating -plain as day- that the *new* “iconic representation of a mother’s love for a special needs child” is the one photoshopped by a blogger (AKA “Celtic Diva”.)

Sheesh, ol’ Sarah with her ever-hysterical Sarahness – gotta love her; she can’t even get ‘righteously indignant’ without messing it up. Big time.

    What a gal.

  6. mlaiuppa says:

Hmmm. Palin’s been out of town…right? And she probably doesn’t have much internet access, right? (Does she even know how to surf the ‘web?) So the stapled tongue has been “handling” this herself…right?

And I’ll bet Meg hasn’t informed Palin of the fallout her statement has caused. (But I’ll bet some ‘bot will.)

What happens when Palin returns and finds out how Meg handled it and what happened? The viral profusion of parodies palin pics.

Will Meg get the boot or only a severe tongue stapling?

  7. Wolfe Tone says:

  12. clydedog says:

The outraged can’t, or won’t understand reality.

1- You start with a picture of a national politician that includes one or more other people.

2- You copy only the image of the politician.

3- The picture now has nothing to do with the people that may have been in the original.

If someone had used the image of the child, that would be different. But people going purely on emotion don’t go in for nuance. I know I keep asking, but who writes and approves this Stapletongue crap. Asking the president to intervene? What a putz.

  13. zyggy says:

How come staple tongue isn’t screaming over all the over photoshopped pics of Palin? Why, lol, there are now just too many. I’m so glad Dr Chill came up with Baby Burke and that Linda posted it on her blog.

I think Pres Obama would tell Palin to chill out and that type of stuff will only continue if she cries about it. And it will, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more, and some of those on somethingawful are really quite awful, but Palin and her dimwit spokesperson brought it upon themselves for being too thin skinned and just plain stoopid.

    Dat ill teach ’em.

  14. Simple Mind says:

So Palin and her attack dog, Stapleton, think President Obama should “condemn” this “desecration”. I’ve been working alot recently. I must have missed it when Governor Palin condemned Republican activist Rusty DePass for comparing a gorilla to Michelle Obama’s family or maybe the aide to Republican Senator Diane Black, who broadcast an e-mail portraying President Obama as a set of spook-eyes on a black background. Oh well, its so hard to keep up with the many thought-provoking policy statements coming out of the Palin office.

  15. Professor Geezer says:

Who would buy ANY book by Sarah Palin after the disastrous month of June she’s had, from a PR standpoint? If I were her publisher, I’d be worried about how much she’s hurt her future sales.

  16. mlaiuppa says:

Does the Stapled Tongue really expect the Obama administration to apologize for their “official state blogger”?

Obama has no idea who Celtic Diva is. The Democrat IC party has no idea who their “official state blogger” is. And no one has any idea who Meg Stapleton is.

If she isn’t ignored, she is going to get smacked down just like Obama does to the press corps when they step out of line.

Oh, boy. Can I watch? (popcorn! more popcorn!)

  17. winkwiinkWA says:

Love all the ironic, desecrated iconic pictures of Miss Sorry A&&, but don’t you think its ironic that the pee’ers, Sarah and Meg used that picture (saying it was making fun of a special needs child) to get back at Linda,. Are they brain dead or just stupid?? I think her followers will end up being the end of her, they started that snowball rolling down the hill and won’t be able to stop it now. It was before her “introduction” of him, and I figured it sort of explained why she didn’t talk about him or his accomplishments and instead copied the Gingrich/Shirley piece about his father, and also why she didn’t greet him on the stage.

It does go to show that Meg and Sarah are still know-nothing neophytes when it comes to the media and the Intertubes. See me pee people may find something valuable in Sarah’s outrage (“Oh, she is SO courageous! She won’t take this lying down! She is our hero!”) but I guess they haven’t got the ability to see the broader picture at all.

There wouldn’t have been a photo to Photoshop if Sarah hadn’t paraded Trig on stage at the Republican National Convention. So, Sarah drags Trig into an arena with 20,000 germy people at 10 p.m. so she can prove her pro-life bona fides and yet it’s some blogger in Alaska who is the problem? She truly is remarkable in her ability to blame everyone else for everything.

  33. kiksadi50 says:

Once again Palin, because she has nothing of substance to report, tries to create a controversey (that is entirely about her) to avoid having to report on her feeble attempts to conduct (or avoid) Ak. state business. Does she even know where Emoonak is? Does she care? I think, by her behaviors, no! This woman is beyond narcissistic, she is almost sociopathic in her inability to put things in perspective & let (the inconsequential & petty) things go. I have never witnessed any politician this thin skinned since Richard Nixon, & we all (or at least some of us) know how that turned out. Does any one repub. or demo. alike really want a nat. rep. of the people to spend there time sparrring with heads of state because they seated her at the wrong table? This is what she concentrates on, petty b.s. Name me 1 issue that Palin has talked about since returning to AK. She just turned the gas pieline over to Exxon, in the face of much public di, & has barely talked about it since. And what did finally happen with the 28 mill. energy stim. funds? Did she or did she not apply for them. If it was not for Mudflats I would not know what is going on in the state because every press release from the gov. office is related to her most recent feud. Eddie Burke is cut from the same small minded, ignorant, uninformed, absurd piece of cloth that Wayne Ross, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity & Ann Coulter are cut from & Palin has aligned(or palled around) with every one of them. We don’t appoint ourselves an icon(I heard Hannity refer to Coulter as an icon also!) In my religion of birth that is considered blasphemous & an act of worshiping a false god.

I think someone — maybe whoever the leader of the Republican Governors Dohicky is now — should mention to Palin that any photo of her children, taken in her company on what should be a professional political occasion — is fair game for public consumption. In public — so that when she next shrills off, everyone has ‘pub backing to shrug and say, “Yeah, but honey, kids don’t belong at political do’s.” Unless they’re there being used as shields. That’s different.

And now all these classic paintings are just… disturbing to me. I vote for the ‘family values’ one — comic book is more Palin’s style, rather than traditional oil. (What am I saying?!)

Don’t get me wrong…I do think the kids should be left out of politics, but as a mother I’m offended that my child is apparently now to be regarded as ‘something less’ to our Governor because he’s not ‘special needs.’

Good thing, since Bristol and Willow and eventually Piper will be raising Trig, not their biological mother.

Using “desecration” and “iconic” are very interesting word choices. Not only indicating that Palin’s speech was written by a true college graduate with verbal skills and a thesaurus….but that Palin’s supporters are more of a cult and that the Palin camp is feeding of the worship. They actually feel an entitlement to godlike treatment and support.

The “tithing” will be frequent and demanding. She might feel 15% to be more in keeping with her status.

Maybe after her term she’ll get ordained and then it will really be tax free.

  42. LibertyLover says:

“…It is past time to restore decency in politics and real tolerance for all Americans…” Meg Stapleton

I’d like to just state for the record, that there has never really ever been a time of “decency in politics” in this country -for example, as far back as John Adams running against Thomas Jefferson; John Adams put out fliers about Jefferson having a torrid affair with one of his slaves… imagine that, smear tactics in the south.

And as for the second part, yes, I, personally, would like to see some “real tolerance for all Americans.” Could we continue this thought with not discriminating against anyone in their jobs or their housing choices based on their sexual preference as well?

Just a couple of random thoughts.

  43. leenie17 says:

Having worked with special needs kids for nearly 30 years, I cringe every time I see how Sarah interacts with Trig (on the rare occasions that she actually does). There is something I’ve often said in reference to some of the kids I work with, but I think it also applies here.

There are ‘parents’ and there are ‘reproducers’. Nearly anyone can be a reproducer, as long as you have the proper biological parts and processes. It takes a lot more to be a parent, and not everyone can pull it off.

I’ve often felt that, despite her sometimes ferocious defense of her children, there just seems to be something missing. Fortunately, it appears that the Palin girls have somehow acquired the skills and nurturing instincts that seem to have skipped a generation.

If the gop is going to continue to be a party in this country, they have some very hard choices to make. They have to make people like rush, sarah, bachman, prevo, dobson, et. al, irrelevant.

We need to vote every single politician who has been in the system more than 6 (or 8) years OUT. By that time, they’re turned their vote over to the ‘special interests’, and have stopped representing US.

I think it’s also significant, as one poster pointed out, that Palin is always holding Trig facing away from her. Photo op? Maybe. But he always seems to be slung like a sack of potatoes. Not every Madonna-like at all. It’s like she doesn’t want to look at him and acknowledge that his is a special needs baby, despite her repeating it over and over.

And just as Queen Elizabeth I branded herself the virgin queen, I’m sure Palin is attempting some rebranding of her own:

And since they were done before the Election as ” Political Parody “… WHY no outrage from S & M…THEN…? Easy answer.

Some Professor could doing a course on politics could do a whole Semester using Palin and showing and pointing out to Political students how NOT to run a political campaign. There are so many examples to use. Most people would think these examples were ‘fiction’ and made up because who( with common sense ) would dare do something like they have done. Students would be racking their brains trying to use logic to try to understand it.

If their base requires words like “iconic” in reference to photos of Sarah and her child, well, then Meg Stapleton might have forgotton her Sunday school, and Sarah, also, too. Biggest no-no all through the Bible is to think oneself an icon or divine. It’s what many Christians wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole. I recall a Texas evangelist ran into trouble a few years back, in a sermon, saying basically that we are “little gods”. That’s what is called “apostasy” or “blasphemy” in christian circles. I hope her followers pick up on that one. No one wants the Sarah package complete with God-complex. Yikes!

And, oops! wasn’t aware of the “democrat” connotation, versus “democratic party”. Thanks for that important point.

Just read the article @ 20 (HonestyinGov).

Hilarious! She thinks the First Amendment is to protect HER from the MEAN OLD PRESS! Ummm… I’m pretty sure it was put in place to protect the PRESS from RETRIBUTION for VOICING THEIR OPINIONS OR DISCLOSING FACTS.

    My God, she’s stupid!

What? She hasn’t had the time to take ONE LOUSY “BASICS OF THE CONSTITUTION 101” class since declaring that the VP is “in charge of the Senate” and “can get in there and make laws”? Really? No time for EDUCATION? What a frickin’ SURPRISE! Education was never really important to this woman. Not for her, not for her kids, not for the Special Needs kids that she cut or denied funding for (can’t remember which it was).

What I found interesting was one of the comments on the article. It was somthing akin to: “Don’t worry… in XX more hours, this will all be over and we won’t have to hear her voice for another four years.” (Reminding you all that this was, I think, day before the election.)

Wow. That commenter couldn’t have been more wrong if she/he said the sun revolves around the earth and grass is pink!

I think what is also missed in all this is how much attention S&M and company must be paying to Linda’s ‘little’ blog. Obviously Linda is doing something that is really getting under Palin’s skin. Hmmmm. I wonder what that could be?

I’m not sure if it is Meg and Sarah paying attention as much as it is the groupies who have admitted to checking these sites (Mudflats/Celtic Diva/Shannyn Moore/Immoral Minority/Progressive Alaska) daily to see what is being said. If they find something they consider out of line they start writing about it and sending it to Meg/Palin so they can then express their own outrage. Then the whole group pats themselves on the back as being on top of the left wing bloggers.

One thing that it does show, no matter who is paying attention, is that they ARE paying attention and are obviously terrified of the impact it is having, hence the desperate attempts to somehow spin it so that once again Palin is jumping on the “victim ship” and sailing off with cries of …poor me…don’t you feel bad for me….waaaaaahhhhh…..look they are picking on me and my kids….they are just jealous because I am so pretty….waaaaaahhhhhhhh….run to my defense against those mean bloggers…..waaaaaaaaahhhhhh….

I think we should have a fundraiser to buy Meggy a dictionary and thesaurus. Then maybe she won’t sound like such an uneducated fool with these press releases.

We would all be better served if the fundraiser is to buy her and Eddie Burke a muzzle.

I think what is also missed in all this is how much attention S&M and company must be paying to Linda’s ‘little’ blog. Obviously Linda is doing something that is really getting under Palin’s skin. Hmmmm. I wonder what that could be?

All Linda was trying to do was get a few emails from the state. A few emails that in the big picture probably aren’t going to tell anyone anything that most of us don’t already know. We already know Palin pals around with homophobic, bigoted, degenerate, “racsist” a-holes. Heck she wanted to appoint one as attorney general. Anything Linda may uncover basically would just be preaching to the choir. Of course with all the national attention S&M has now pointed to Linda’s little blog I bet quite a few more people will be interested in what Linda finds out. Good job S&M! This is why you should have followed AKM’s sage advise.

My own personal theory is the Sarah Palin has no desire at all to be POTUS. She just wants to be rich and famous. Unfortunately her talents are fairly limited so she needs to play with what she has got which is basically this Gov of AK gig. She won the super lotto by having McCain pick her as VP candidate. She has national recognition. There isn’t a talk show or tabloid in the world that wouldn’t pay big bucks to have a piece of the Palin Pie. In fact I bet when it is all said and done her hero is really Kate Gosselin.

Here is some advise to Meg and Sarah. Give up this political gig. It’s really not your thing. Frankly you just come off as well how do I say this politely… Okay there really isn’t a polite way to say it so I’ll just say it. You just come off as STUPID!

Get into what you could do well. REALITY TV is your ticket out! Heck I might even turn into a few episodes of The Palins Unplugged.

Trust me Sarah. This is where you need to be. You would make millions and you wouldn’t even have to learn the names of any foreign countries.

I bet the reason they are so upset about the photo’s are because there is only a handful of her holding Trig. Majority of the time it is one of the kids holding that baby, especially the littler one. Just imagine how much more fodder there would be if she actually spent time with the child. Pretty bad when the world blast you for your inability to connect with your child and care for them properly even the simplest action as holding or carrying. She is a waste of good oxygen.

The 2 guys in front of the photographer didn’t seem to respond to her – in fact, they reminded me of a high school assembly where everyone was on their best behavior for a guest speaker. I noticed a few chuckles – once. Anyone else pick up on this?

I loved that quote and visual, especially the “cheap and tireless insanity.”

Most reasonable people would agree that there is plenty of cheap and tireless (and tiring) insanity on the internet but few would embark on a war of self-righteous censorship in a country where the First Amendment is truly respected.

Like Honesty in Gov. points out in #20, Ms. Palin thinks that criticism of her violates HER First Amendment rights. (Shaking head). Cheap and tireless insanity…..all around.

  99. califpat says:

Our President would never put himself in the mire of responding to every slight or insinuation against his family or himself. For one, he has the intelligence to know that as a politician that these insinuations will be forth coming and realize that it would be assine to respond to them. Unlike Gino and Megamoose, he does his job of trying to care of America and try to make America better. Gino and Megamoose are only interested in themselves and their perceived images and to heck with the reality of actually taking care of the people of Alaska. God, I hope most of the people in Alaska pick up on this.

Here’s a strange coincidence. I just finished watching Craig Ferguson on late night CBS (he comes on after David Letterman). He taped his Friday show on Wednesday because this weekend, he’s part of a USO group heading to Kosovo and then on to Germany. Don’t we know someone else with the same schedule??

Craig’s jokes were about Germany, told in a funny accent. He decided that they may not think that he was so funny. “Did they try to kill my family?” he asked, both joking and for real, “Yes, they did!” Then, he tried to look hurt, and hoped that the Germans wouldn’t hold it against him. Craig has a charming way of speaking both truth and humor at the same time.

Craig has also made Sarah Palin jokes. What if their paths cross this weekend? Will she be outraged? I don’t think that anyone is allowed to make jokes about a politician, are they? To make matters worse, Craig’s show is owned by World Wide Pants, David Letterman’s company. Dave is his boss. And, thanks to Sarah’s outrage, Dave’s ratings are up! Thanks, Sarah! Dave has even joked that following the Governor Sanford business, maybe it might be safe to make jokes about Republican Governors again. My own comment: they are a never-ending source of comedy material.
