Frank Bailey Speaks on Sarah Palin and His Upcoming Tell-All Book

Here is the first video interview of Frank Bailey, whose story is told in the book Blind Allegiance which hits the stands tomorrow. Frank told the Associated Press: ‘In 2009 I had the sense if she made it to the White House and I had stayed silent, I could never forgive myself.’ To speak up when he saw things he didn’t agree with ‘went against all that investment of time and energy that I put into her,’ said Bailey. He said he ‘shed his family,’ his wife and two kids, to singularly focus on Palin during her rise to the…

The Least of Sarah Palin’s Problems

By Ken Morris (Co-author with Frank Bailey and Jeanne Devon of Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin “My problem is I do have the fire in my belly…” ~Sarah Palin discussing a run for U.S. President with Fox News host Greta Van Susteren, May 19, 2011 Where to begin? After about 18 months of living in the rabbit hole of Sarah Palin’s head while co-authoring Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin—insider Frank Bailey’s factual account of being side-by-side with the candidate, then half-term governor and failed vice presidential candidate—I listened to the above quoted interview in dismay. It wasn’t because of the…

Palin Pulls a Palin… again.

~Palin in the headlights at the MSNBC after party So, who is the most influential journalist in America today?  Not an easy question, perhaps. It’s one that requires some knowledge of who the journalists today are. And if you’re on camera, and a politico or media type, it might also require a little diplomatic forethought.  And if you decided that you didn’t want to answer the question for fear of alienating all the journalists you don’t mention, it might require some fast-on-your-feet poise as you gracefully deflect the question with a bit of humor subtly indicating that you don’t want…

America by Heart – Chapter 4, Raising (Small-r) Republicans, Part 1

We’ve made it to chapter four, and there is no rest for the weary.  This chapter, while mostly non-political, is maddening nonetheless.  And while we get a blissful reprieve from the Founding Fathers, and Milton Friedman and Alexis de Tocqueville, we will find ourselves being irritated with Helen Keller.  We will not hold a grudge for very long, though.  How can you stay mad at Helen Keller? This chapter will require the use of an extra piece of equipment, you should be warned.  In addition to the usual Maalox (or Pepto Bismol, your choice), adult beverage, and helmet to avoid…

Who’s the Real Peeper? Palin v. Neighbor in New Show for TLC.

Alas, we have been ignoring her but she has not fulfilled her end of the bargain and gone away. Far from it. Last week I received a lovely email invitation from TLC asking me if I’d like to attend an open house event in New York City for bloggers and online media to learn more about Sarah Palin’s Alaska. It was a nice invitation and it assured me that the show was not  “political.”  I passed.  Even I have my limits. I hope I have your forgiveness. Those in attendance were treated to a little extra sneak peak of the…

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski Slams Palin

It’s interesting to see the reactions coming in from Alaska’s politicos to the surprise resignation of Governor Sarah Palin yesterday. But, perhaps the most surprising of all is that of Alaska’s Senior Senator, Republican Lisa Murkowski. We expect politicians to be…well…politicians. We anticipate all kinds of pussy-footing around, saying things without really saying them, and trying to offend the least number of people while saying the bare minimum to satisfly the public that they’ve actually responded. That’s why Murkowski’s response was so refreshing, an so unexpected. She said what many Alaskans, especially those who have supported Sarah Palin, are feeling….

Palin Won’t Release Amount of Gifts Because It’s a Secret! Shhhhh…..

It an amazing display of a different kind of “don’t ask, don’t tell,”  the Palins when asked to disclose how much the gifts Todd Palin receives from Arctic Cat (his sponsor for the Iron Dog snowmachine race) are worth, and they replied with silence.  They “can’t” tell us.  (looking around furtively and whispering in your ear)  It’s a secret. That’s right, gifts which could, according to sources, be worth in excess of $20,000 for the year 2008 alone are a “trade secret” according to the governor’s personal attorney, Thomas Van Flein.  These gifts include snowmachine(s) and “any discounts offered on wear.”  …

Dudeapalooza Continues!

The First Dude’s East Coast Tour continues.  Tonight, he was the guest of Fox News at the White House Correspondents Dinner.  Wanda Sykes was the roaster du soir. The cameras missed the money shot. Todd Palin was nowhere to be seen when this little zinger came: Governor Palin…she’s not here tonight. She pulled out at the last minute. You know, somebody should tell her that’s not really how you practice abstinence. (audience laughs, gasps and says ooooooo) Oh, shut up. Come on, you’re going to be telling that one tomorrow. (laughter) [Open Thread is still active for off-topic posts]

The First Dude Takes Manhattan – and a Mudflatter is There.

When I heard that Sarah Palin was going to be at an Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute event in New York City, I wished very loudly that there would be a Mudflatter present at the event who could serve as a roving reporter/Mudspy.   I’ll have to remember to wish like that more often because I received an email from just such a person – a NY Mudpuppy who was willing to write up an account of the event!  Much to my dismay, the governor cancelled her appearance.  I’m starting to think if the governor was a racehorse, and her appearance at an event…
